Question about 1998 Land Rover Discovery

1 Answer

Fuel prob? Hi Coldcut, Thanks for your reply. The coil is new so shouldn't be the problem but plugs may be. The "missing started not long after I replaced the plugs and leads. I will try your suggestion this evening. Thanks again

Hi, when you turn the ignition to start that the engine turning not at all. If your car engine turning but do not pick up. There is only this three things can start your car.
1- Fuel
2- Spark
3- Compression.
If you have fuel look for spark, If you have spark look for fuel, if you have both do compression test.
If no spark check your leads or coil packs
if no fuel check your filter is not block it or fuel pump.
If your engine is not turning at all check your battery or your starter.
Give more information do you have pack coil for each plugs or loose plugs wires.

Hi sometime while I am driving my 1998 Lin. Navigator it starts to hesistation like small shakes. I take my foot off the allerator it smooths out. It don't do it all the time. Kenny

If it was mine I would replace plugs. Think it has coil over plugs it should turn check engine light on if its missing. Then I would install a new air filter and clean the mass air sensor. They make specail spray for this don't use carb cleaner it will mess it up make sure mass air sensor(small-wire) is dry dry dry before turning on the key.Its prob one of these two things or you got bad gas or a restricted fuel filter. hope it helps. If it's super charged use 91octane or higher.

Possible intake gasket leak causing a misfire, or plugs or coil causing a misfire. each cylinder has its own coil. You can hear the vaccuum leak with your ears under hood if gasket is bad. Check eng codes at advance auto prob for free. If it has misfire codes only, prob coil or plugs. If misfire with fuel trim, prob gasket.
