I shoul not afect any thing unless you replace the batterie with the car runing, and some radios have antitheft code if batterie die or disconect the radio will ask you to type a code in order to work again but most of times it display the worl code on the digital screen

My car started dying and now hasnt enough charge to start

sound like bad battery cables.replace them.the positive battery cable is old and have a lot of resistance not allowing power to the alternator to charge battery.if battery cable good check alternator connector wires.make sure they are not damage also check alternator fuse and fuse link.turn off radio before removing battery wires so you wont lose radio code.

does the car start? if it doesnt...then your battery is dead. see if it"ll jump start at least for awhile, if it does and dies again...your alternator could be bad and not charging the battery.
