No you buy a new regulator, that way the motor and the gearing is new. ebay or a parts store is far cheaper than a dealer. If you have skills and special tools for removing interior panels without damaging them, a collection of all the fancy glass fasteners at hand, and a couple hours set aside for scraping the skin off your knuckles then go ahead. otherwise take it to a glass shop and pay them 50 bucks to put it in for you.

My driver side window stopped working. I had the window resetter ( or something like that) fixed cause my window fell in the door. After that it sounded like something was dragging against the glass when...

sounds like the power window motor has failed. You can get this part with or without the window regulator. It's like $20 cheaper to get the motor without the regulator but way more complicated to replace. If you heard a rubbing sound after the first time something could have been left untightened. If it hasn't been too long maybe they will warranty it for you, but the part at your local store was less than $100 when I did one a coupkle of months ago.

Passenger side power window inop. Possibly a switch, fuse? Can I fix myself? What parts are required? Thanks

Try removing the door panel, and then feeding direct power to the motor using two wires connected to power (positive) and ground (negative). Connecting the wires one way will make the motor move the window up, and reversing the connection will make the window go down. If the motor works ok when you do this, then you have a wiring or switch issue, likely a switch. If the motor doesn't work with direct power and ground, then you have identified the problem. Good Luck!

I have a 2001 Honda CRV. The driver side window no longer rolls down. I've tried replacing the fuses but it still doesn't work. Is this something I can fix myself?

sound's like your window motor and/or regulator went out. they can be tricky to change if you don't know what your doing.

How much will it cost to fix my drivers window? i recently bought a 200 pontiac grand am gt but the window on drivers side doesnt work - there is something in side of it holding it in place. do you know...

remove door panel inside car and check motor with test light.
check window regulator/track window rides on, for proper operation, check cable is not broke.
replace motor if bad buy a new one, replace regulator from junk yard, new is pricey. 250.00 dealer cost.
350-400 for the whole job :(

Driver side window usually won't work - Usually....

you can but you would need to attempt to diagnose this problem when the vehicle is acting up. You would need to check for power and ground at the window motor/regulator assembly, they have a tendency to go through window switches and regulators so before changing both i would get a good test light. Wait for the problem to start and probe one of the wires while moving the switch up and down, if you dont get power at either direction its the switch, if you do its the regulator.

Driver side window not going up fully on my Audi A4 Cabriolet 2002, it eventually will go up by pressing the button gently. Sounds like a cable breaking or broke, but if so how is the window still able to...

There really is no cable. The power window runs on tracks inside the door, which is attached to a motor which is also inside the door. It's very tough to get to to fix it, lots of screws and you would need to take the door panel off. It's not something I even try to fix myself, and I consider myself very mechanically inclined. I have replaced a window motor once, and took a large chunk of meat and skin out of my finger in the process. Hope it helps. If you want to try fixing it yourself just know, it's VERY complicated.

Driver side window will not go up. it will go down, but not up

It could be a couple of things. If the motor has a hard time lowering the window, then it could be the motor. If not, then I'd buy a replacement switch box. You can replace that fairly easily. If that doesn't work, it could be the motor, or the window regulator could be jammed. If the motor hums and tries to move when you press the up button, it could be the regulator( all that other junk in the door that controls the window). In that case, do NOT replace the switch, because the humming you hear means the motor is getting power, and the switch is fine. You could replace the switch or the motor, but I would suggest letting a professional fix the regulator.

89 accord driver window will not go down

I've owned 2 '89 accords. You need a new power window motor. Let me guess... the window use to roll up/down REAL slowly, then quit working altogether. I replace these myself with junkyard parts, fairly easy repair (at least for most people) or you can have a shop do it but BEWARE the shop will VERY likely put in a used junkyard part rather than buy a new one from the manufacturer! Saves them money, they charge u for a new one, and the customer knows no better and next thing you know your "new" window motor is going out again. Like I said, fairly easy to do it yourself.. just take the interior door panel off and you'll see the working's inside.
