Check to see if your crank sensor has a bunch of oil on it. If it does, I use brake cleaner and clean it all off.

It takes three plus times turning the key to start before the starter turns the engine over. The engine starter clicks each time the key is turned to start but does not turn the engine over until the 3rd...

You Probably have a Bad starter motor, or Starter solenoid, Take the starter, and get it checked, most autopart dealers will test it for free.

Jump timing want start Mechanic just put new timing belt on

If the timing did jump and assuming no damage to the engine you'll need to get in to the engine and replace the timing belt and tensioner. This can be done on your own if your up to it. With the right tools it will take 5-6 hours. In the meantime do not attempt to start or run the engine.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom

Takes time to start up a 1999 Ford Pick Up Ranger

Check the MAP sensor and the fuel pressure at the shredder valve. Before you try to start the engine, cycle the ignition 3 times to the run position for 10 seconds apart and then try starting the car. You may be lossing the fuel pressure prime. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to hlep.
