Check the overflow inspect for leaks in hoses or even welsh plugs in the side of the block a visible leak is easier to diagnose failing that i would suggest it could be a manifold or head problem

CAR OVERHEATING

There are many possibilities for car overheating.

Faulty thermostat clogged radiator/plugged radiator, radiator hose worn out. Coolant running low. Low coolant pressure. Faulty temperate sensor.

1997 jag xk8 overheated, replaced thermastat and Waterpump still overheating?

Last year my car suddenly overheated while idling to the point the coolant tank exploded. I took it to a foreign car repair shop where they replaced the coolant tank and put in another thermostat. It didn't make it home before it overheated again. I took it to the Jag dealership where they felt that my hoses had expanded to much during the overheat so they replaced all of my hoses to a tune of $1000. Three months later it overheated again. I took it to another foreign car repair shop where they discovered the real culprit. An impeller had broken off of my waterpump, I had a blockage in my radiator, and I had a short in one of the coolant fans that made it only work part of the time. So about $2400 later my car has been coolant issue free for about 2 years now. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Only 2 parts remaining are the thermostat and waterpump. Always start with the thermostat when diagnosing an overheating problem. If the car is overheating constantly under all conditions and coolant is backing up into the reservoir, it's very likely to be the thermostat. If it only overheats at low speed or idling, it's more likely the waterpump.

Head gaskets don't cause overheating Usually they are a result of overheating. If the headgasket is bad one wil get leaking into the cylinders of coolant, which wil show up as milky oil.Like some one else stated ; have the radiator rodded out,(cleaned and fluashed).

91 toyota camry overheating problem

So far you did the right things in the right order. If you have a pressure cap (looks like a radiator cap to the rear side of the engine. Dealer $15) change the pressure cap also and then flush the radiator. A sure sign of blockage is when you open the radiator look around inside the top if you see brown or green kind of gunky stuff. Flush the radiator anyway.
If after the radiator is flushed and you still overheat, the next posibility is the head gasket. But don,t worry yet, follow these steps and observations. (this goes for 93 camry V6 also, I have one)

  1. change radiator cap and pressure cap where applicable
  2. Change the thermostat.
  3. Some cars may have a thermo switch which ramps up the fan(double fan designs). Change that if applicable.
  4. flush the radiator and engine block
  5. change waterpump AND headgasket.
The temperature guage can tell you what you need to know.
  1. If the guage starts to spike up after stopping, pausing in traffic or while in gear not moving but it is fine while driving along the highway, then you are having a blockage in the cooling system. FLUSH SYSTEM.
  2. if there is a bubbling sound in the engine when you turn it off, FLUSH SYSTEM
  3. If the car overheats at anytime, anywhere and it drinks coolant like a fish, then you my friend have a headgasket problem. Change waterpump and head together

Overheating

the AC puts an extra load on the cooling system in your car. a short descriptive reason is that the AC condensor is in front of the radiator therefore the heat it emits is dumped into the radiator cooling fins. so when your car overheats when the AC is on and dont overheat when its off its an early warning sign that something in your engine cooling system is going bad. such as thermastat or waterpump. or it could mean your radiator need flushing from the inside and the fins could be clogged with dirt and bugs that get past the grille. try cleaning the cooling system fins first the ac condensor and radiator see if water will sprat through the grill into the fan with your water hose. then if cleaning check all the other items i mentioned good luck james
