Manual code retrieval for 1989 plymouth voyager 3.0 v6 engine

Hello, I need the instructions for manually retreiving codes formy Voyager. What has happened, I drove my van on a 100 mile roundtrip, and when I got home and before I could park it, the van stoppedrunning, and wouldn't start. I tried to start the van later andit fired up and idled, but there was a new check engine light. The van seemed to run good all during the trip, and so there weren'tany symptoms before it stopped running when I slowed down to parkit.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Wayne

Thank you for your fast reply!

One further question, please? When the light flashes, are they long and short flashes, or equal length flashes? My friend said the flash sets should have long flashes for "10s," meaning one long flash is 10, 2 long flashes 20, etc; and the short flashes are "1's," meaning one short flash is 1, 2 flashes 2, etc. and when added together, 3 longs and 2 shorts would be 32. But, when I turned the key on as you described, the flashes appeared to be to be all equal, with pauses between the flash groups. Does the Chrysler products use equal length flashes?

    Thank you in advance!

    Wayne

Hi leetamara, thank you for your quick and helpful reply. I have one final question. To clear the codes, I just need to disconnect the battery for about 30 seconds?

Again, thank you very much for your superb help!

Hi Wayne, what you do is turn the key to the "on" position and back to "off". Do this three times. The engine light will flash. It will flash a certain amount of times, pause, then another set of flashes. The first set of flashes is the first number of your code. The second set is the second number. For example, you see 5 flashes, your first number of your code is 5, and so on.

Yes, disconnect your battery, the negative terminal. Leave it off for a minute to be sure and re-install it. Let me know if you have any issues in the future. Glad I could help.

Flashing engine light 97 plymouth

That is indicating that a part has failed and you need to scan it and retrieve code which will point you in right direction for repair. Most autoparts stores will scan for free now, and usually have part and instruction to do the job yourself.
