How do I get the glove compartment to stop rattling?

My glove compartment constantly rattles. I know that when I get it serviced the techs go in through the glove compartment. Maybe it was jarred loose? Can I tighten this myself?

Have a 2006 TDi that the golve compartment started as a vibration and now is a full-blown rattle. Surfed the web a bit and found this is a common problem. Taking it to the dealer is a giant pain having to leave it all day. A do-it-yourself fix would be great.

This is on my 09 focus, when I get to around 60mph, the radio paddle controller starts to rattle. It seems like it's loose and just needs the screws tightening but I can't get to it to tighten them. Any advice would be great fully received. Thanks

Get it fixed under warranty. My 04 and your 06 have the same glove box. The right hinge was rattling around in mine and they replaced it no problem. Not worth trying to fix yourself :)

A rattling noise dont know the location but it feel like i am riding over a pavement of gravel then it stops like i am on a smopth road

Hello

Rattling Noise is due to the following reasons:

1. Engine Rubber Mounts (Solution: Get them replaced)
2. Constant Velcoity Joints---CVJ (Solution: Get them replaced or greased---there are steel balls in it which may rattle)
3. Steering system (Rack & Pinion): Check for loose Inner Ball Joints as well as Torn Rubber Bellows (which means there is dust, foreign particles between moving parts)
4. Steering System(Column): Loosened parts.
5. Engine Tuning Out.

These are primary reason, eliminate one by one and you will come to know the root cause.

Rattling glove box...noisy when driving. Is there a fix?

You have to find out what is rattling. Is it the glove box door? If so, check the lock mechanism. Some are adjustable. If it is not adjustable then look for a missing rubber stop on the sides. If one is missing a piece of stick on door seal will work if you cannot locate the stop.

Glove box rattles hood rattles over bumps

there should be adjustment posts on the hood, you could raise those or lower the latching mechanism.

you might also be able to adjust the glove box latch to close tighter

When I start my MPV, there is a rattling sound from behind the glove compartment box. I removed the box and there is a unit that seems to have a motor of some sort inside. WHat is that for. If I disconnect...

this is the interior fan motor and housing. The rattle may be a piece of debris in there(i.e. leaf or a piece of paper)or a thing in the electric motor called a brush.Run the fan at different speeds and if the sound gets quicker with the fan,its probably just a bit of debris. The other, the fan wont run as well and may may need replacing when it gives up and wont work
