Thats exactly what it is, loose grounds. don't bother getting another from a junk yard because it will most likely have the same problem or will eventually do the same thing. Took mine out soldierd the grounds at a few places and has worked ever since. Now if i could just get the stupid a/c to stay on!

Loose connections in whole cluster, you have to take it out and have somone check it out due to desoildered grounds.

It would have a speed sensor in the side of the transmission where the cable once connected.

I have an Audi a3 99reg and the speedometer is no longer working but the rev counter and all other gauge s r working fine what could be the problem????

Check if your speedo counter is mechanical the is the cable either broken on the gear box side or behind the dash. If is an electronic one then check the electronic speed sensor on the gear box.
Good Luck Emma !

1995 mazda 626 glx speedometer and mileage counter not working. Rev counter works though. Does it have a cable problem or sensory

Not to sure, but i think its cable. Loosen the nut that holds the cable to the speedo drive on the gearbox. check if the inner cable is broken.

Phillip

any clicking ?..might be old school set up with speedo cable needing replaced inside the housing ....the square drive ends go away after time or cable breaks somewhere in middle but pressure keeps it working most of the time :)
