I recently bought a 1999 Toyota Camry and am going to give it an oil change. I'm wondering if it's worth it to pay extra for the oil-change package which includes chassis lubrication or not. Are there any chassis points needing lubrication on the Camry? Or are they all sealed, permanent, or whatever you call such?

All those we've worked on have been sealed....Ball joints, tie rod ends and all other places. Suspension is rubber mounted....I think I'd suggest you save the cash and take someone out....But an engine valet service is a good idea and having the fuel and air filters replaced, at very regular intervals.

Hello! Welcome to FIxYa. Please allow us to assist you.

To answer your question...
No. It is not worth it to pay extra for the chassis lubrication, because there are no places to lubricate.

Everything in the suspension on your vehicle is sealed. There are no grease fittings anywhere to lubricate.

They are doing nothing more for you, other than trying to take your money. Don't let them. In fact, seeing that they are willing to sell you a fake service, I would take my business elsewhere, if I were you.

Thanks for coming to FixYa, and asking for the true story today. We hope that we have helped you out, and saved you some money in the process.

Considering the front end parts were changed with aftermarket parts. Yes they will have grease fittings. Have them show you the fittings if any. Then decide, Lee Davidian

Oil light means no, or very low oil pressure. Happened to me once in a 84 camry. Car was old and not worth rebuilding. But I found out then that high-mileage camrys had a problem with oil pump gasket failure.

If he knows a lot about cars, he should know that you dont/cant fix a Bent Rod. Unless its a real nice car (flooded?) its not any more, its not worth fixing the engine. You need a new engine, or a used engine. .

Brake rotors and pads recently replaced. Seem to

You could stop the noisy brake problem by applying special adhesive to the back of the brake pads. They are available at the autoparts stores. If you buy high quality brake pads, you would see the anti-noise shims included in the package.

As for the oil dripping issue: have the required quantity of oil in the crankcase-3.2 quarts to start when you change engine oil. Inspect the oil-pan gasket, drain-plug, oil-pump seal

1997 Toyota Camry with second round of engine sludge

The best way to solve the sludge problem is to drive the car! If you drive a few miles then shut it off that advances sludge issues. Make sure you get it fully warmed up. Toyota sent me the notice on the sludge issue in 1998. I have 327,000 miles on my Camry now. When I drive it I get it fully warmed up, and most days I put on at least 20 miles. I change oil every 4-5000 miles. These are great cars.
I never changed any of the common parts that fail on most American cars before 100,00 miles. Such as O2 sensors, alternator, starter, cv joints, all original still.
