None really but do make sure the lip on the outside of the interior of the same is cleaned up with a small radial grinder so it has a slight outward bevel and make sure the shoes are adjusted up so the drum just slides over and slight scuffing noise can be heard when spun ,then tap drum with hammer and if noise stops then re adjust the shoes out a bit more .HANDBRAKE CABLES ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO STRETCH , so only change if the cable is seized

How do i replace my hand brake cable on my ford falcon XH ute

wait a bit ....is it rear disc or rear drums on that ute

will assume its under dash hand brake pull lever tyoe

the disc setup may have single cables for each rear
rear disk brake cable is approx $ 150

if your XH it is close to the XE and XF set up drums
a complete one line loop cable outer and inner
with plastic grommets along the back chassis rail ( they break )
so the one inner cable works both rear handbrake shoes

hand brake cable is a shorty

undo the adjustment thread
just below the hand brake cable point up somewhere above the gearbox
(drums )
after new cable fitted
drums are adjusted with the old school way with the handbrake adjuster tool
handbrake cable adjusted

then the handbrake handle when pulled out to hold needs14 plus clicks
comes out a long way for some weird reason
on drums
if cable adjustment is done wrong onrear drums the handbrake cable will come loose in the drum as you drive along

Hello David, there will be an adjuster but (depending on the age of the vehicle) it might be self adjusting or manual.

How do I adjust my handbrake on a ford transit 05

if rear drums then you need to remove the drums ,clean the lip on the outside of the drum the adjust the brakes up manually and they will fit snug with the lip removed ,use a small radial disk cutter for this ,then the handbrake will be right and the footbrake will be hard as well ,just adjusting the cable will result in the vehicle failing the inspection due the handbrake lever inside the drum being over the 180? position ,us old fleet diesel fitters never die we answer questions on here

check whether the handbrake cable is working or not. Jack it up on stands and pull handbrake. then the wheel which is the problem strip it and check it inside even asking someone slowly slowly to pull the hand brake and watch to see what is working and what is not, probably the retainers are not working or no collect thickness of brake shoes etc.

HOW TO ADJUST HANDBRAKE NEED TO PASS INSPECTION THE HANDBRAKE SHOULD HOLD AT THE 3RD CLICK IT DOESN'T NEW BRAKES AND A BLEEDED SYSTEM. WHAT DO I DO

The handbrake adjust is normally under the vehicle. The cable either splits into 2 cables or more likely, goes directly to a small curved bar. The single cable has a threaded end that goes through the bar with a nut on the end. Raise and secure the vehicle on jackstands before you crawl underneath. Look at one of the back wheels - you'll see a cable coming out to the front. Follow this cable to where it either crosses over the aforementioned bar or is connected to it. In the middle of this bar you'll see the nut from the front cable - Use a sharpie or other felt tip pen to mark the thread at the nut on the back side .Adjust this nut so it travels forward( towards the front of the vehicle) 5 or 6 threads , and check the handbrake to see if it's ok. Sometimes you can remove the cover over the handbrake and find an adjuster there - you may have to remove the center console if you have one.
Hope this helps!

Ford Puma Handbrake cable

Remember that whilst dealing with the handbrake of a car, you are dealing with specialized equipment. I know how to fit these, but to avoid an unnecessary problem later, i would take it to a mechanic.
