That sounds correct and its probably electric and in the tank. turn the key to the start position then listen for a small humming noise coming from gas tank if theres no sound then thats most likely the problem.

It might be fuel pump or it could be fuel pressure regulator

89 camaro starts wont crank when it does wont idle and dies after 3000 rpm when you hold accelerator

Could be a problem with the pickup coil in the bottom of the distributor if equipped. The pickup coil provides the crank signal for the injectors and ignition module.
Did you clear the code and then 53 came back ?
On most models code 53 means the computer or one of the components is getting over 13 volts.

Have you checked Google I found this hopefully it's not your timing or it may be flooded but doubtful have you tried spraying starting fluid into the intake while cranking it

Fuel injection needs 20-30 pound pressure to fire the injectors. Try to check pressure before filter. If its low your pump is no good. If its ok then you have pressure drop after the filter. Filter on backwards or clogged.

ignition module located in the distributor. aside from being a mech i also owned an '87 that went through modules frequently. remove it and bring it to an auto parts store like Autozone or OReilly and they have a machine to test your module before you buy one. Hope this helps!

1991 Camaro RS v-6 will start but dies almost immediately

Keep it simple and replace the fuel filter first, if thr fiiler has not been replaced within 30,000 miles or 1 year. Then it's a good chance that it's going to be the fuel filter.
