Question about 2001 Ford F250 Super Duty Super Cab

1 Answer

DTC # 1 P1249 Code

What exactly is this code. Is it a trubo problem or a transmission problem.

The transmission does not know what to do after going more than 20 mph.

Everything is OK when it is in reverse, 1st, or 2nd gear

P1249 does NOT appear in any of my charts or troubleshooting information. The codes in the P1200 section are for fuel delivery/mixture.
Are you sure that code P1249 was present?
It is unlikely that an engine trouble code on a Powerstroke would affect the transmission operation. R, 1 and 2 are manually selectable gears. If your trans won't shift into 3rd(direct) when in Drive, there may be a problem with the direct clutches and/or sprag clutch. This is a big problem area with your series of transmission. How many transmisions have you gone through so far? I've known quite a few people who have gone through 3 or 4 transmissions before the truck ever hit 60K miles, especially the 2001's. There are many updates available for your transmision and the Ford dealer may not know about a lot of them because they are strictly aftermarket, and they work!

1997 BMW 528i. 158,000 miles. Get severe vibration/noise from transmission tunnel/driveshaft/floor when I asccelerate hard through 20 mph. This goes away at 24 mph and does not reoccur at any other...

Its possible that the drive shaft has something on it causing this vibration for example I accidentally sprayed under coating on part of my drive shaft and the vehicle did exactly what you describe until I got it scraped off. Additionally if its cold where you are ice can freeze on one side and cause this issue as well.

for the p0500, the solution:
The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
i know this tool is helpful for your car.
Next, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the speed sensor. The location of the sensor depends on your vehicle. The sensor could be on the rear axle, transmission, or perhaps the wheel hub (brake) assembly.
If the wiring and connectors are OK, then check the voltage at the speed sensor. Again, the exact procedure wil depend on your make and model of vehicle.
If everything looks OK, replace the sensor.

all of the above codes refer to the transmission. have you tried to erase codes using an OBD-II scanner. if no scanner go to auto-zone and tell them you need the codes erased. they will do this for free. evidently the pcm thinks there is still a problem with transmission. clear the codes and see if they come back. have a good day !

What does code p1757 means?

Its a transmission code for the governor, the exact code description is " Governor pressure above 3psi in gear with MPH 0.
Either an input or output speed sensor is malfunctioning or the governor, governors go a lot on those transmissions.

Brake light & ABS light on, speedo problem

I recently had the same problem on my 99 dakota R/T. My symptoms included the abs and brake light staying lit, speedo failing to work at all speeds and the truck would occassionally stall when coming to a stop. I ended up replacing the rear abs speed sensor (on top of the rear diff) and all is well now. The truck runs exactly as it should. You are looking at a $30-$35 dollar part.
