LOCATION OF MAP SENSOR ON 2011 VW JETTA

if you follow the big hose that comes off the left hand side of the intake manifold it leads downward to the side mounted intercooler. The MAP sensor is bolted onto the inner side of the intercooler. You have to unscrew the inner wheel well cover on that side and remove the front fender to get in there to the intercooler area. You can take the front wheel off or turn it full one way to get better access. The intercooler sits on the side of the car and fits between the turbocharger (mounted on the back of the engine) and the intake manifold. I'm sure there's a diy somewhere - probably a DIY for changing boost hoses. Last edited by AgGTI; 10-17-2010 at 04:13 PM.

Check this out with performance shops as there may be an intercooler that fits straight in. You may have to get brackets in a kit or make them yourself. The problem will the routing of the intercooling hoses to and from the turbo/manifold . Front mounted intercooler are more efficient at cooling the air so the only problem I can see apart from the engineering side of fitting it is that you may have to have a speed shop with a chassis dyno reprogram the CPU to get the best performance from the cooler more dense air.

How to remove intercooler

You have to modify the mounts to make the SRT4 FMIC fit in the PT. Which year do you have? With the '06 and up PT's you have to do some very minor mods to the front bumper cover for it to fit, but it mounts perfectly.

Now, before you do any upgrades to the IC, you need to make sure you have converted from factory pipes to steel (stainless preferred) up-pipes, and especially the hot-pipe. You'll be wasting the extra cooling capabilities with a larger IC if you don't upgrade those crappy rubber pipes.

1996 Subaru Legacy wagon twin turbo w/AT from japan. How do i replace the starter for this car? The intercooler is above it and a turbo is to the right of it if u r faceing the car. HOW do i do it? I am...

hi you first need to remove the top mounted intercooler by removing the bracket bolts that hold it up then you need to undo the main hoseclamps connecting it to the intake manifold and the turbos on each side, once this is done just wriggle it around and it will slide off with all the small vac hoses still attached so just move it to the side. This will enable you to get into the starter motor area but its still kind of tight as you have heater hoses etc near by. Next remove the wires and cables from the starter and last of all the bottom nut or bolt and the top one that hold it on. Best way is to undo battery that way if you accidently touch power wires you wont blow fuses etc, just follow these in reverse order to re install. The hardest part is always getting top mount back on but get it in right place and it will just slide back in

First, remove the grille, then the top panel. Remove the viscous coupling and fan. Remove the top radiator mounts, Remove the coolant hoses and oil pipes, remove 4 bolts holding the A/C and intercooler/or PAS radiators (depending if yours is diesel or petrol.) then lift up and out the radiator. Fitting is reversal of removal.

Top mount intercooler

The easiest wy I have found with mine is to undo all the mounting blots and release all the non fluid hose clamps. you can then manouvre it around with the fluid hoses still connected. It is still a bit of a mission but should only take 20 mins to replace once you have finished. The main problem will be lining up all the intake pipes when putting it back together.

Hope this helps

Cheers
