Question about 2004 Mercury Mountaineer
I replaced the starter and the battery but it still won't turn over. The starter was a bit worn. the interior gauges flutter up and down when i try to start it. I'm not sure if its a short or possible a bent fly-wheel. any suggestions or comments would be most welcome.... thanx
Comment by jason1025, posted on Jun 10, 2008you hear the starter clicking but it won't turn over. every time i try to start it you can see the bolt on the alternator turn about 1/4 of a revolution. its almost like its seizing on something thats keeping it from completing the cycle.
Ok try to turn the engine from the cranshaft pulley with a tool like a socket and ratchet if you are not hable to turn engine by hand then you have an engine problem, and also check if the batterie cables get hot when trying to start if they do the only thing wrong will be a defective starter or an engine problem
