Question about 1998 Saturn SL
98 Saturn SL1
The light on or key in ignition warning bell does not turn off when I turn off lights and take the key out of the ignition. Bell comes on when I open any of the car doors. Why? Please help!
Quick solution till u get it fixed would be to remove the steering column.....few bolts......then cut the small green wire that goes into the ignition harness.....this is the key warnings power.....I literally just came in from cutting mine.....but that was because I put in an engine start button

Probable bad switch, whether it's the ignition switch or light switch or other I'm not sure. I'd start by checking TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) through Saturn; they shouldn't charge you to check their database for this problem. I know GM had the same problem. May also be the control module that interfaces all of these various warning systems with the main computer. Referred to a "body control module" or something similar.
