Question about 1994 Hyundai Excel

1994 Hyundai Excel Air conditioning RADIATOR´S FAN works always very fast

Well, this is correct, but this did not happen before. The normal function is the fans work only when ambient temperature is high or ac is working for some time. Now, fans work very fast at morning, when ambient temperature is low and after engine pass all night off and stays cool. At morning, I just start the engine, push the ac button and the fans start run very fast, immediately. This is not normal. If you know what is the problem, please, help me. Thanks.

Ok there is a relay in the power dist. box for the a/c fan it has a high and low side or there may be two diff. relays what I usauly do is swap this one or them for known good ones check part numbers swap from i.e fuel pump power window and such if that doesnt work you most likely have the winding in the fan motor itself fused together basically worn out to check this use a ohm meter check across the pins in the fan side of the plug with it unpluged only two at a time should have flow black wire is ground leave and usually in the center check the other two without take the negative of the meter off the ground both should have continuity now check the other ones negative to one hot and positive to the other hot if these have continuity you have a shorted fan motor it needs replaced.. let me know if this works or if you need clarification thanks Danny

this not really a problem as the fan speed is controlled by the high preasure switch in the ac system the hotter it is outside the higher the preassure will be in the system as hot as its been the preasure is high already when the compressor cycles it pulls suction on one side and outputs high preasure on the other the fans cool the condenser the higher the ambient temp the faster they go so all is fine...

There are mulitiple possibilites here. Assuming there are no other major problems with the engine, and that this happens only from time to time the first thing to check is the thermostat. Ensure it functions correctly and is the correct heat range (ie: 160, 170, 180, 190, 200 and 210 degrees are the normal raanges used) Use the recommended t-stat for your vehicle (including all optional equipment). Also check the water pump for any noise or grinding to ensure it is functioning well. Next thing to check is that your fan is the correct fan and not modified or replaced with a smaller one or electric fan. The air shroud is also very important to direct air flow, and believe it or not it, that plastic shroud everyone hates will help to significantly change the airflow and thus cool much better. These are the most likely caauses. Keep in mind that the overflow only happens when sigificant pressure takes place from the coolant overheating and expanding... it does not always mean you have too much fluid. Also keep in mind that coolant has a higher boiling temperaature and does not expand as quickly as water... that is why you should always be using coolant and not water. Water works in an emergency, but not good for much more than that. The last thing I suggest you check is the size of the radiator... if it was replaced before or if you have modified the vehicle (towing, etc.) the radiator should be resized to accomodate the new load. The normal radiator for this vehicle has hat is called a "2 core" radiator. You may need a "3 core" radiator for the added cooling surface area... most commonly used for work trucks, towing packages or modified vehicles. This small problem can become a very big one if you do not solve it... the overheating can easily cause cracking in the heads or block later if it continues for any period of time.
1- coolant and levels
2- thermostat
3- water pump
4- fan and fan shroud
5- correct radiator for your application

Car temp went up air condination blew hot while stuck in traffic but once traffic moved everything was fine again

Your electric fan for the radiator is not working. When sitting in traffic you will need the fan for air flow which cools the radiator and air conditioning condensor. When driving fan is not needed do to air flow from driving.

The engine over heat unless air conditioning is on

from memory the electric fan runs constant when air conditioning is turned on i would suggest the thermal control for the electric fan monted to the radiator is not functioning correctly is normally mounted to a flat spot on radiator

From what you describe, I would consider looking at the Radiator Fan operation, and associated A/c and Radiator Fan Fuses circuit and Relays.

Changed thermostat, flushed radiator, fan comes on but it takes a long time, car temp guage goes all the way up to H(hot) until i turn heater on full blast then goes back to normal temp????

have you try to change oil? some times engine heat does' not just come from malfunctioning of the cooling system . But sometimes its the oil that runs to the engine . if the engine oil is dirty already it could also cause the engine to over heat. do to change the engine oil of your Acura Legend.

AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT COOL WHEN IDLED

Typical problem of R-134 freon. It just doesn't perform well at idle, though hardware changes over the years have improved performance in later models.

However, be sure to cover the bases. Check freon charge with gauge set. Don't guess. Make sure the pressures are correct and that cooling fan is functional and nothing restricting air flow at condenser & radiator. High pressure from car wash wands can fold-over the cooling fins at radiator thus restricting air flow. I suspect all this is good but you should make certain to remove any doubt.

Idle speed control

Hmmmmmm.... seems to me you have a completely different problem since you've verified the idle control valve is working. What controls the idle control valve?... AH!... the ECU!... is the wiring between the ECU and the Idle Control Valve in good condition and making good connections? mmmmmmmmm... then I'd say you have a defective computer (ECU). Here's something you might try. Disconnect the battery connection cables from the battery... touch them together (cables + & -) for thirty seconds. Reconnect the cables to the battery and see what happens. Sometimes there's 'GARBAGE' stored in the ECU memory and interferes with the normal operation of components. If nothing changes, you'll need to start testing (bench testing) components (idle speed control actuator (make sure it's not 'sticking'). check for vacuum leaks.... thoroughly inspect intake air hoses & vacuum hoses... inspect all EMS (Engine Management System) connectors for any signs of corrosion or mal-connections (male & female pins). The problem may simply be electrical contacts/connections.. .then again, it could be mechanical.

Air Conditioning

I assume when you say the ac fan you mean the condenser fan? Take the plug loose from the fan and check it for voltage. If theres no voltage when the air is on,check the relays and fuses. If there is voltage then replace the fan motor.
