You have a 4 cylinder and there are seals in the cover around the spark plug holes. You can replace these with a rocker arm cover gasket set. Costs about $25.00. The oil does not hurt the sparkplug, but over time it will affect the plug wires/ boots and cause a misfire. these are not hard to replace. Your call.
look hard around your valve cover or your spark plugs holes especially #3 and #5. i found mine on 3 and 5 spark plugs. oil sometimes drip down to hot eng and smell like burn oil. possibility your valve cover that seal your spark plug hole is worn out and leak around the valve cover and straight down to hot area. replacing valve cover gasket is not easy and if you take it shop will cost you over $1000.00 because of intake manifold and a lots of hardwares to remove. shop around before you take it to the shop. if you do it your self with a friend make sure you take picture for every lines ,bolts sensor plugs and so on you remove. also may as well tune up or change your spark plugs. good luck

3. To fix the rings you will have to remove the head and sump (Remove the motor from the car if you cannot remove the sump with it in the car)

The plug wires fit down in the head, and in those holes you have seals. If these seals get old, broke or ? the you need to take off your valve cover and replace the gasket kit. the oil is one reason the plug is popping off because the slick surface.The oil will travel down through the plugs and foul out the plugs. It's not hard and it's cheap for the gasket kit. There should be 4 holes in the head. after taking the cover off, scrap all the old gasket off and clean with a solvent. You are ready to apply your gasket or RTV sealant safe for sensors. Small bead is all it needs. Let it sit for 2 min then apply the cover on and make sure you seal the hols where the head and cover meet. Then make sure you have new washer gaskets for the bolts you took out on top of the cover. Are these new plug wires? if so you may have to stretch the end to fit over the plug correct. Good Luck
If the oil was still wet it probably wasn't coming from inside the combustion chamber. Oil in the combustion chamber would show up on the plugs as white ash (usually). It has been my experience with those toyota motors that the oil comes from deteriorating o-rings that seal the valve cover to the spark plug tubes. They're not very difficult to replace. Remove the valve cover (you'll need a VC gasket) and there are 4 big holes in it that fit over the spark plug tubes, which you should now see sticking up out of the head. Replace the o-rings around them and you should have no more oilly plugs. I don't think this really affects the performance, but I can see where it would cause plug wires to fail prematurely.
you will have to put another valve cover gasket on between each cylinder there is a round gasket between valve cover and cylinder head if you buy the valve cover gasket kit they will be in the kit .please rate this answer thanks.
Who ever told you it was the Valve cover gaskets was correct. On the valve cover gasket around where the spark plug goes down though the head there is a seal made onto the valve cover gasket called the spark plug well seals. when replacing the valve cover gasket it will come with these seals and it will take care of your oil leaking into spark plug holes.
