There seems to be a grinding or rumbling noise coming from my 1997 1.8gti i thought it was the bearing at first but on the mot they said the bearings were fine. However it did fail for a burst cv gaiter could this be causing the problem and will i need to change the cv joint or just the boot.

Sounds like your struts are running dry, they will need to be replaced, usually in pairs of both fron of both back, not very expensive to have repaired and also could be carried out at home by diy mechanic

2002 honda accord rides hard over bumps and potholes little to no bounce what so ever and standing in front of the car the passenger side looks lower than the drivers side plus alignment is off. wondering...

It would be very tough to advise you without being able to inspect the car in person.
Bounce is controlled by the struts and shocks. If one side is lower than the other, the common cause is a weak spring on the strut.
If a control arm fails, the car usually drops to the ground.
I would take it to two different tire shops and get some estimates.

My 2005 nissan altima 2.5 has a very rough ride... I feel every bump and pothole in the front end....I have just over 90k miles.... the only other issue I have had with the car is the crankshaft sensor at...

This rough ride is going to be shocks, and struts. It most likely will not be motor mounts. Price for shocks and struts , with parts and labor only on front could run around 500 bucks, if taken to any where but the dealer. Sense your car is front wheel drive have breaks and steering arms checked at same time. Thanks mike

Montero Sport clunks when I hit a bump

The front[or rear] sway bars have links in them that are rubber mounted,it sounds like one of the sway bar links is broken,or one of the sway bar bushings is missing.Find the sway bar and have a close look at the mounts to see if the problem lies here.

When do I replace the shocks on a 2006 Kia sportage? My new tires are not riding as comportable as should.

You have struts on your Car, not shocks. They can be expensive to replace due to the work involved. If you did have bad struts or shocks you will get a floating motion when going over ruts in the road as if the car was bouncing. You might get a loud thud going over small potholes. do research on your tires and see what others are saying.

1993 ford escort wagon struts or shocks? bottoms out rear clunk

That vehicle probably has rear shocks only but there is an easy way to tell a strut has a heavy coil surrounding the shock and is easily recognized. Hopefully it is shocks only - they are alot less expensive and easier to work on - Good Luck
