I have a 2004 GMC Envoy the shifter cable came off and I had to put it in park myself. I noticed at the end of the shifter cable that the round plastic washer at the end of the cable broke. How can I find that plastic part. I dont want to buy a whole new shifter cable just for that one part

Check out this site for the part to fix the transmission end of the cable. Go to the rear end of the transmission on the driver' side (under the car/truck). Make sure to push the transmisssion lever toward the front of the car/truck (park position), the shifter should also be in park. Get the part, install is easy.

On 2004 gmc envoy slt pulled in garage dash says in drive council shifter says in park truck won't start truck rolls back and forth shifter button can't push in please help

Since you can push it. It would be the shifter cable(clips broke or just came disconnected) or the bracket holding the cable on either end of it. Most likely at the shifter. I have seen them broke at the transmission. But it was a fault of the person trying to remove it from the bracket.

2000 GMC Envoy, Shifter wont go into park

Sometimes the cable housing slips in the clamp. With the ****** in Park, loosen the clamp and slide the housing towards the end of the cable, then retighten the clamp. Very similar to adjusting the throttle cable on a lawn mower.

2004 Envoy is not coming out of Park. The button will not push in for me to put it into gear. However, the Dash Indicator says its in Neutral. I can crank it, but the shifter will not move. How do I fix...

It sounds like your vehicles neutral switch has gone bad. If you replace the switch you should be fine. Then again It could also be your shifter cable. These problems are kind of hard to determine without actually seeing the vehicle. I hope this information helps you out at least a little, and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

sounds like you have a broken shifter cable.Go under the rig and shift the transmision manually.Put on the parking brake and on the drivers side of the trany should be the lever to move.Look for the broken part while you are there it will also help to locate the shift lever on the trany.

Trans in park computor read out on dash reads it is in drive

You most likley have a bent/damaged shifter cable. Unhook it at the trans, and move the linkage, with the park brake set. Push it all the way forward, that is park. The display should change and it should start. If so you will need the cable. Good Luck
