Question about 1994 Ford Ranger Supercab
Idles in park smooth, on take off no power, boggs down, after you gain speed it runs smooth sometimes it chuggs,I have changed fuel fliter, and plugs. why is there not any power until you get up speed, sent air into filter after we took it off and black or dark fuel came out, also it was hard to get the air to flow free thru the filter.... Gary
Sound to me that your fuel filter is clogged up. Change that first since it costs a lot less than the fuel pump. If it still continue to do it, Crank it over and listen for a hissing sound under the hood. May have a vaccum line with a hole in it.. On the drivers side of the motor, the pcv valve has a hose running up to the throttle body and another coming from that general area.. It is it cracked or missing, you can expect the same performance as a stopped up filter or bad fuel pump. Either case, the dark colored gas description sounds like you may have some rust in the line and possibly in the tank.. Change the filter first, then chase down the vaccum lines.. To change the pump, either remove the bed off the truck (easier than it sounds) or try dropping the tank. I was going to drop my tank once but remembered that it had 15 gallons of fuel.. Each gallon weighs about 9 lbs or so...So I removed the bed and everything was easy from there.

We were having the same problem with our '94 Ranger 3.0L 4x4. After replacing EVERY possible thing and almost to the point of giving up....we replaced the fuel pump and it runs like a champ again!
