Get the code read again where did this come from eng control unite? pay volvo the $90. and get the correct code or give use more info engine /turbo/auto etc...

My engine management been on for the past 2 months and now it has gone off and haven't had the problem fixed . Can you tell me why it has gone off

It would depend on what sensor was coding and causing the engine light to come on. In most cases when the engine light turns off with out maintenance it means that the sensor that was sending the code ran long enough with out a problem that it reset. A lot of things that should be taken care of with your car can be affected by humidity, dusty air, barometric pressure, fuel additives, ect. I would still take it in to your mechanic and have them check the codes to see what the problem was. If you ignore some problems with your car they can cause bigger more expensive damage to occur.

It is a common misconception that the instrument cluster self test gives DTC's for the engine management system, it provides cluster related DTC's on test 10 of the cluster self test, DTC should be displayed above the code, these will be displayed at 1 second intervals, once you press OK again the cluster will scroll to the next test, the format of the codes shown in the cluster is designed for Ford engineering and can only be translated into usable codes by Ford IDS.

The only way to find out why the engine management light is on is to have a scan of the engine management control module carried out using an appropriate code reader, this will give you the standard EOBD codes for example a catalyst efficiency code would show P0420. If you want to do this on a DIY basis then cheap code readers are available on the internet for around $75.00, these code readers also reset the light after the fault has been fixed. if this was helpful please leave me good feedback

You need an OBD2 scanner to read the error code. It plugs in to your car and is typically under the steering wheel. Autozone will read the error code for free.

When a 'check engine light' (MIL=Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is turned on, there is a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) set/stored in the ECM/PCM (Engine Control Module/Powertrain Control Module). This code identifies which engine management system component/function experienced a malfunction. Once you pull/read this code, you may begin diagnosis.

If your car has a V6 engine then the problem is the oxygen sensor AFTER the cat on the side that has cylinders 1,3,5. that would be the cylinders closest to the firewall in your car.

I bought use tercel 99 its manual trans 152000km run fin for 2 day then engine light turn on still run good it just use mor gas

I assume you are referring to the Check Engine light on the dashboard. The ECU (engine management computer) will have logged a fault. A Haynes manual or similar may tell you how to read the error codes that are stored in the ECU. When you have read the codes, it will tell you which engine components are suspect and need checking. As the fuel consumption has gone up noticeably since the light came on, it suggests that the error code will relate to a fuel system fault. For information when the ECU detects that an engine sensor is giving unexpected readings, it overrides (or ignores) the input from that sensor and replaces it with a safe "get you home" value. In doing so, this may lead to more fuel being supplied to the engine than would be the case if the engine sensor was working properly. If you aren't able to read the engine codes yourself, you might prefer to take the car to a garage and they will be able to interrogate the ECU for you.

all the codes starting p1 are manufacture specific codes you need to take it to a dealer. the p0734 relates to a transmission problem the person who serviced your vehicle only cleared the fault codes the prob is still there
