IF YOU LOOK UNDER THE CAR, NEAR THE ALTERNATOR YOU WILL SEE A PLASTIC HOUSING WITH 2 PIPES LEADING ONTO IT. THE THERMOSTAT SITS IN THAT. JUST BE CAREFUL YOU DONT SNAP THE BOLTS WHEN REMOVING THE HOUSING.THE HOUSING ITSELF CAN BECOME WARPED OR CRACKED AND LEAK FLUID, A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FOCUS. THE HOUSING COSTS AROUND £15 AND A THERMOSTAT ABOUT £6. GOOD LUCK.

YOU WILL ALSO LOSE COOLANT WHEN CHANGING THE THERMOSTAT SO HAVE A SUITABLE CONTAINER UNDERNEATH. YOU NEED TO TOP UP WITH ANTI-FREEZE AND RUN THE CAR ENGINE AFTER THE JOB IS DONE AND CHECK THE FLUID LEVEL.

Location of temperature sensor that operates the temperature gauge

Follow the upper rad hose to the thermostat housing. It will be there. There are two, one is the ECT (engine coolant temperature SENSOR) and the other is the temperature SENDING UNIT (input for temp. gauge ONLY). f83e91b9-4b48-476a-8c50-10735b376bf1.png

Where is the thermostat located on 2001 ford focus?

The purpose of the thermostat is to regulate the coolant system to prevent the engine from overheating. A faulty thermostat will stick and not allow the coolant to enter the engine.
Follow the upper rad hose to the engine and at the engine there is the thermostat housing.
Undo the bolts and lift off the connector and replace the thermostat. The thermostat housing is attached with three bolts.Lift the thermostat out of the housing. The thermostat rests at the bottom of the housing.
-------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Hi need help on my car heat not blowing hot its a 2001 focus thanks

Hello. If your fan is blowing on all speeds, it is probably your thermostat in the water system that is at fault. (probably stuck open) You didnt say whether the car was a petrol or a diesel. Diesels tend to run cooler so it will not be doing your MPG any good either if the engine is not getting to the correct temperature. The thermostat is a cheap part and usually fairly easy to identify and replace. It will be in the haynes manual or try a search engine for how to replace it. Hope this helps.

I plan to replace the Thermostat housing when replacing the thermostat and upper radiator hose. Questions: - Should sealant be used between the thermostat housing o-ring and the engine sealing surface? If...

no sealant should be needed.clean both surfaces well.be sure 'o' ring stays in place & thermostat is installed correctly.you'll probably only fill the hose as the thermostat will be closed, but that won't hurt.keep proper level in over flow tank,it will bleed air out itself in a day or 2

Ford focus heating problems

you might like to try replacing your thermostat on the engine!a way to test if it is working properly is to remove the thermostat and place it into boiling hot water ,this way you will be able to see how and if it is working or not,and how you tell is if the spring compresses closed and the valve opens its fine if not then you need to replace it,,hope that helps..goodluck.

You will need a 20 star bit screw driver and a tool to take off your radiator hose.Their are 4 screws on the front of your thermostat housing . Make sure your car is cool for at least an hour And you will Probably need to unclamp the top hose running to the thermostat housing. And Probably the hose up under the housing. Then with the 20 star bit screw driver unscrew the 4 screws in front of the thermostat housing. When you get the front of the thermostat housing off.The thermostat is right inside pull it out and replace.
