2000 pontiac grand prix ac problem

If the compressor is working, a mechanic would check the low and high gauge pressure.
The freon has to flow thru the system to work, and the cooling fan draws air thru the condenser to get rid of the heat from inside the car.
If the ac clutch is working but the gauges show equal pressure, the compressor may be faulty.

My 2001 pontiac sunfire 2.2L is making a clicking sound when it runs. what is making that sound? Is it the valves being worn or is it the valve springs being worn...

are you sure it is a clicking noise the 2.2 engine is bad for the ac compressor clutch going bad and making a metal to metal rubbing noise. the way to check this is while the car is running turn on the air conditioner and see if the noise stops if so all it needs if the ac compressor changed or bypassed till the spring. hope this helps.

I have a Mazda Tribute 2001. The Air conditioning all the sudden stopped working. In several occasions if we left the AC on for too long we heard a loud noise coming from the belts. Can it be a fuse or...

It sounds like your air conditioning compressor or air conditioning clutches have gone bad the solution is to have rebuilt (or buy a rebuilt)air conditioning compressor. Do not attempt to work on thr compressor yourself unless you are certified in air conditioning, gas in system can kill you if you breeth it in.

well if the a/c has quit working .....the compressor probly finally failed....most times when the clutch hub begins to rattle or becomes real loose it has already worn the compressors snout....that cannot be fixed ...you need a new compressor .......

Ac won't turn on?

Your compressor clutch is not engaged that was why AC is not on. The clutch is controlled by several sensors: coolant temp, refrigerant pressure, compressor speed sensor, evaporator temp sensor... First to make sure your Clutch is working then start tracing back to these other sensors. Look at the compressor, there is a plug of electrical wire on it. One prong is for speed sensor feedback, the others are for power connectors to turn on the clutch. Jump wires to power to clutch to check if it is working. That is just the beginning of AC troubleshooting. Good luck.

01 grand am, ac compressor clutch not activating completely. What supplies juice to electromagnet?

A low refrigerant charge will cause the ac compressor clutch to not come on and/or partially apply. Check the ac refrigerant charge -- if low charge ac. Then re-evaluate

Clutch short cycles and air comes on a off.

From what you're describing, it sounds like the AC system needs a refrigerant charge.
Many car owners are doing their own AC
charge by purchasing a re-charge kit at the local auto parts store. A small gauge is also available (looks like a tire gauge) that attaches to the low side of the AC system, that gives you a reading of the system's charge.
The low side of the system is the larger metal hose line coming from the compressor. It has a fitting and cap on it. The high side is the smaller diameter metal hose.
