I have a honda civic esi. The problem is when I turn on the aircon, after around 30 minutes, the RPM gets unstable when the car is not running. When it is in a complete stop, the RPM seems to "cough". Pls help me. Thanks!

If the car shuts down after the service engine lights on, possible problem is the igniter on your ignition coil. You have to replace the igniter. I had the same problem before with my esi 93 and honda car shop fixed it by replacing the said part. It is better to have the code scanned first. If it gives you 1 long flash followed by 5 short flashes, definitely it is the igniter.
Looks like your A/C actuator is malfunctioning and needs to be check out and adjust!
The actuator functions to compensate the idling of your engine when you turn on the a/c system. it was powered by the vacuum, check the hose that might have been broken or disconnected.
hope that might help u out!
i've found on hondas when the there is a no start problem when the engine spins over fine. when the plugs wear out the cylinders get washed down with gas and it sounds like it has no compression. if this is what its doing put a little bit of oil in each cylinder not too much though then put new plugs iin it, however if there is no spark at the plugs it's probably the distrubutor
the check engine is on because our speedometer not working properly you probably have the code speed sensor problem those honda in those years they were having troble with the cluster(dash board) i hope it help you dont forget to rate please take care pierre
