Hi ya i had wat sounds like simalar prob on my transporter, the aa said it was a alarm wiring fault but i was told by a friend about the ignition , the same thing all lights and stuff up until i turned the key a further stage to start it and nothing, if you take your cowling off and remove the actual key mechanisim underneath ther is a black section that is prone to wear out , that belive it or not costs about £10.00 that wears out and causes this problem , i pulled my hair out over this , to check it put ur key in and turn it up until u start engine , make sure u r out of gear , lift bonnet then get some jump leads attatch to battery then to starter motor if it starts 90% chance its the black twirl cylinder i was on about any probs ask me

2005 Chevy equinox won't start won't turn over no dash lights will come on...but radio comes on

Your battery has failed. Be sure to check for the alternator not working to charge the battery. If your battery is 5 years old it's bad.

Ignition switch on dodge dynasty?

I had a similar problem years ago. As long as your dash lights come on, it's likely you can use an external pushbutton switch to run the starter. There are likely just 4 wires on the ignition switch. Power from the battery, and switched to:
main car stuff (dash lights, ignition, signals, etc)
splice in wires from battery and starter to new switch, and you're good to go. This worked for years on my old car.

Yes you have to inspect fuse board and i think the main fuse is the problem.

Intermittent dash board problems

sounds like you have a grounding issue possibly a main grounding location. inconsistant grounding of the vehicles control module will cause erratic behaviours. check under the hood for ground locations containing multiple grounds at 1 bolt location.if different "experts" have attempted repair and failed chances are they are all looking in the wrong place.dash{interior of vehicle}..actual cause.{egine compartment or under side of locations.}good luck and safe motoring:>

My Jimmy is having problems with starting if I turn the key it does not run until the dash lights come on but the dash lights don't come on all the time I hit the computer and then pulled on the wires...

Common Problem on the Jimmys, and Blazers is the ignition switch wiring Harness. The Engine will crank, you can try many times, then all of the sudden the dash lights come on , and the guages all work, it will start. I Have seen this problem 4 times, in my years of being a mechanic.

2002 Tahoe engine will not start

Electrical problems are difficult to diagnose in person without testing ...however, it seems that you may be loosing the body ground, causing power loss to the clock and likely the computer as well. As the starter is able to turn the engine, likely there is no problem with engine grounding. While cranking, the accessory side of the ignition switch should remain "hot" otherwise you would loose the clock every time you started it up. If it's not a ground problem, I'd look at the ignition switch itself to make sure it's not dropping power to ignition system while starter is engaged. on some vehicles this can also happen at the starter relay if an ignition bypass is used to provide hotter starting spark.
