1994 Hyundai Excel Air conditioning RADIATOR´S FAN works always very fast

I own an 1994 HYUNDAI EXCEL LS, MANUAL GEAR. The problem is: at any engine temperature, always when I push the air conditioning switch on panel, the air conditioning turns on and both RATIATOR´S FANS on front run very fast. The fans on engine´s radiator runs always very fast, when a/c is working, independently if engine temperature is low (engine is cool) or high (engine is hot). The system was not working that way few days ago. Before, a/c fan only turns on at high velocity after some minutes of working a/c. Now, I just start a/c and the fan starts very fast imediately. I need some help. Thanks.

Well, this is correct, but this did not happen before. The normal function is the fans work only when ambient temperature is high or ac is working for some time. Now, fans work very fast at morning, when ambient temperature is low and after engine pass all night off and stays cool. At morning, I just start the engine, push the ac button and the fans start run very fast. This is not normal.

This not really a problem as the fan speed is controlled by the high preasure switch in the ac system the hotter it is outside the higher the preassure will be in the system as hot as its been the preasure is high already when the compressor cycles it pulls suction on one side and outputs high preasure on the other the fans cool the condenser the higher the ambient temp the faster they go so all is fine...

From what you describe, I would consider looking at the Radiator Fan operation, and associated A/c and Radiator Fan Fuses circuit and Relays.

Changed thermostat, flushed radiator, fan comes on but it takes a long time, car temp guage goes all the way up to H(hot) until i turn heater on full blast then goes back to normal temp????

have you try to change oil? some times engine heat does' not just come from malfunctioning of the cooling system . But sometimes its the oil that runs to the engine . if the engine oil is dirty already it could also cause the engine to over heat. do to change the engine oil of your Acura Legend.

My 2001 lincoin ls gauge goes up to the h and then come back down

you probably have air trapped in the system. Have dealer or radiator shop bleed system.

I assume your cooling fan is working.

what engine v6 or v8?

SECTION 303-03: Engine Cooling 2001 Lincoln LS Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Engine Cooling The cooling system components include the:
  • block heater (optional)
  • cylinder head temperature sensor
  • fan blade, fan motor and fan shroud assembly
  • radiator
  • pressure relief cap
  • degas bottle
  • radiator draincock
  • water pump
  • oil cooler (optional)
  • water thermostat
The water thermostat:
  • controls the engine coolant temperature.
  • allows quicker engine warm-up.
The degas bottle:
  • provides a location for system fill.
  • contains coolant expansion and system pressurization.
  • provides air separation during operation.
  • replenishes the engine coolant to the system.
The fan blade draws air through the radiator to help cool the engine coolant.
The fan motor:
  • operates only when the engine is running.
  • will not operate when the engine is off.
The engine coolant flows:
  • from the lower radiator hose to the water pump.
  • from the water pump to the engine block and the cylinder heads.
A closed water thermostat returns the engine coolant to the water pump. An open water thermostat allows the engine coolant to flow to the radiator.
Unsatisfactory coolant materials:
  • Alcohol-type antifreeze does not provide adequate water pump lubrication.
    • has lower boiling point
    • reduced antifreeze protection
  • Alkaline brine solutions will cause serious engine cooling system damage.
The cylinder head temperature sensor provides a signal to the temperature gauge.
  • will invoke failsafe cooling.
The optional block heater:
  • electrical heating element is installed in the block cooling jacket.
    • uses a standard 110V (220V in Europe) electrical supply
  • keeps the engine coolant warm during cold weather.
The auxiliary water pump (3.9L only):
  • provides heater coolant flow boost.
  • has a secondary function of providing engine-off cooling.

Air Conditioning

I assume when you say the ac fan you mean the condenser fan? Take the plug loose from the fan and check it for voltage. If theres no voltage when the air is on,check the relays and fuses. If there is voltage then replace the fan motor.

1994 Hyundai Excel Air conditioning RADIATOR´S FAN works always very fast

ok there is a relay in the power dist. box for the a/c fan it has a high and low side or there may be two diff. relays what I usauly do is swap this one or them for known good ones check part numbers swap from i.e fuel pump power window and such if that doesnt work you most likely have the winding in the fan motor itself fused together basically worn out to check this use a ohm meter check across the pins in the fan side of the plug with it unpluged only two at a time should have flow black wire is ground leave and usually in the center check the other two without take the negative of the meter off the ground both should have continuity now check the other ones negative to one hot and positive to the other hot if these have continuity you have a shorted fan motor it needs replaced.. let me know if this works or if you need clarification thanks Danny
