Question about 2001 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

2001 Taurus A/C stops for a few minutes then restarts

2001 Taurus has the standard manual A/C system. It has a full charge. When blower is run on anything less than high, compressor will stop for two to five minutes, then it starts again. It cools the car comfortably, even when it's 95 deg. F . But as soon as it gets comfortable, it shuts off long enough that we have to open the windows. Does Ford really have a better idea? I could use an idea on this one! Thanks!

The low side switch was the problem! Jumpered it out - runs fine!

Many thanks ntsure211! I assumed that if that switch went bad, the contacts would stay open or closed. Didn't think the range would widen between the make and break (on/off) points. Thanks again!

Same problem showed up shortly after jumping out the low pressure switch. Ended up being the clutch coil was weak. $600 for that fix!

Runs good shut off for a few minutes restart runs terrible engine spits and sputters

A bad fuel pump may cause a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9l to run for a few minutes and just shut off without sputtering. It can also be that the fuel pressure regulator (on top of fuel pump assembly) is stopped up. Dodge Ram trucks have been named Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year three times.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2003 Ford Taurus wants to die when coming to a stop

TRY THIS AND LET ME KNOW IF IT CORRECTS YOUR PROBLEM
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls at stops and low erratic idle speed and rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

Ford taurus Wagon 2001 heater problem

Check your coolant level. If the antifreeze is low the water pump may not be able to pump enough of the coolant through your heater core. When the car runs faster it is able to pump more of the warm antifreeze to the heater core.

Sounds like it could be the throttle position sensor.
