Question about 2002 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo S
I have a couple things, Frist airbag light is on plus the check engine also I have a problem with driver side window not working right
First of all we shall deal with the check engine light, and the answer to this is very short and sweet, you need to have a fault code read carried out. It may not necessarily tell you exactly what the problem is, but it will most certainly point you in the right direction as to which engine management system the fault lies in to give you a fighting chance of diagnosing the fault.
I will add, however, that if the car is running without any problems then I would hazzard an educated guess that the stored fault code(s) which have caused the light to come on will either be pointing to a problem involving the upstream O2 sensor, a lack of catalytic efficiency, or a problem with the EVAP system, which could be as simple as a loose fuel filler cap or a loose or broken vacuum pipe, or if the car feels as though it is misfiring, then it is very highly likely a coil pack at fault.
Next, the airbag light. Your first port of call is to ensure that the ignition is switched off, and then check all of the wiring connectors under the drivers seat, making sure they are all in good condition and connected securely. Disconnect each one and then reconnect them securely.
When the light comes on, does it flash a few times before staying on solid? If so then count the flashes as follows:-
The light will flash a number of times then pause briefly, and then flash again a number of times and then pause for a slightly longer period before repeating. This is your airbag "fault code". If it flashes for example 3 flashes, pause, 2 flashes, long pause, then the code is 32.
Once again, airbag fault codes can be extracted via computer, as per the engine management light, at a garage or by a mobile mechanic with the relevant software.
Now the electric window. First of all, check the relevant fuse in the fuse box.
Next, if the window isn't working at all, or moves very slowly, then you can swap the drivers switch with the passengers switch and see if that fixes the problem. If so then you need to buy a new drivers side window switch. If not then you need to check the voltages coming in and out of the switch, and if these check out, you then need to check for a supply and earth to the window motor, which requires a bit of door dismantling, and both of which require a volt meter. If the earths and voltages are all good then the window motor requires renewal.
If the window moves unevenly then the door needs to be dismantled and the window mounting mechanism checked out and aligned or repaired as necessary.
Very best regards

Have a 2002 beetle. the check engine light was read by the dealership they said it was the temperature light sending unit. replaced it, reset the light and 2 days later on again. checked the vacuum line and replaced the spark plugs as the code they read could have been from these areas. reset the light nothing there either. went back for an O2 sensor replaced that part reset the light and again 2 days later the check engine light popped on again. well the last thing on the list was the catalytic converter to be replaced and sure enough they replaced it for free....government mandates that all car makers after 2001 warranty all cars for 8 years/80,000 miles. the dealer said it was unlikely that the catalytic converter was bad but they finally replaced if efter it cost me $350 of parts to replace. I reset the light and presto 6 months later still no light so yes the catalytic converter was bad at 68,799 miles on the car. in general your check engine light is caused by emission issues

There is an impact sensor on some cars that may cause the airbag and service engine light to come on. Did you buy the car used? Check all the fuses, under the hood and in the car. You must check this first and let me know if it helps, if it doesn't that eliminated quite a bit and I can more than likely help you find the problem.
