Question about 1997 Jeep Cherokee Country

JEEP 1997 CHEROKEE COUNTRY STALLING

Hello: I have about 148K on my country model. For the past several years(about 3 or so), after I drive in hot weather with the AC on, when I come to a stop, whether it is stop and go in heavy trafiic, or to a stop to park the car, the tachometer will start "reving" lower...below 400, and then stall out.

I have taken the car to several dealers, and they have yet to find the problem. Now the car has to be run for some time first..my last count was about ~45 miles before the symptom occurs. The dealers have said it may be this or it may be that, and my last service was a replacement of the transmission valve body core ($~2000), and carbon cleaning of throttle.

Needless to say, the very next day, the car stalled out again. Mind you, this happens every time I use the AC in really hot weather...KINDA IRONIC SINCE THAT IS WHEN I NEED THE AC THE MOST.

When this occurs, I have to turn AC off, and run the car for awhile before the stalling situation is alleviated. By this time, I have lost about 10lbs in perspiration weight.

The car has been very well maintained.

ANY SUGGESTIONS, EXPERIENCES, ETC., THAT MAKE SENSE WOULD BE A GODSEND..

Thank you for the reply. I am having the mechanic take a look again, and I will bring this observation to his attention.

Moreover, some others have suggested that it could be a bad IAC, TPS, and/or ECU.

1997 jeep cherokee country white smoke under hood, runs good, does not run hot

Interesting.
White smoke is usually burning coolant.
You should be loosing a fluid, something has to be burning to make the smoke.
It could be a very slight drip onto the hot exhaust manifold or pipe if it is only happening from under the hood.

Where is the radiator drain plug located on my 1997 Jeep Cherokee Country 4X4. The only plug I have located is on the side oh the radiator and is almost impossible to get to.

You can usually get to it by removing the front grille. (just a few screws)
I usually ignore the drain as after you get to them, half don't work.
Fastest way of draining is to remove the lower hose from the radiator. It comes out fast so don't do it hot and have a catch pan there or you will make a mess. Most times you can get to it easily by removing the air filter box (two bolts inside bottom).

An old, unanswered request - if you have found the problem, tell us the results and it will be in the database for others.
No idea on the speedometer problem but if you are adding coolant too often and haven't found the leak, you may have a blown headgasket. Check your oil for any sign of water contamination; it will cause the oil in severe cases to look like hand lotion. Check your coolant reservoir for any odor of exhaust fumes. Checking your plugs for any signs of rust is also a good idea.
Keep a close eye on your water temperature until you find the leak because if there is a path between the coolant passages and a cylinder, it will blow hot gases into the water without any sign of the engine missing or misfiring (at first) while running and will **** coolant into a cylinder when the engine is off and it cools down.
