Question about 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid

1 Answer

Car not starting

I have a new Nissan altima 2.5S that I bought new on October.
Today morning the car seems not to recognize the I-Key (I could not open the truck, start the car ....etc)
I tought that the problem is coming from the key so I tried with a second key and I still could not start the car...
Is the battery dying? but i only used it for 6 months ....

I think that I have the same problem. My car is not the hybrid though. The brake pedal does not seem to be able to be pushed as far as normal when I try to start it. The dash lights do come on and I am able to get the radio to come on. The battery tested fine. I am wondering if there is a bad switch somewhere in the brake pedal. Does anyone have any ideas????

Also, this happened once before, but did not show up on a diagnostic report. The car just magically started working again. This was about a month ago, but I am just now having the same problem.

I have as similar problem with my 2008 hybrid I bought in April. The wireless key worked fine for 6 months and then the car wouldnt start right away in the morning. its winter here in SoCal (if you can call it that) and I'm wondering if there is a temperature relationship. Also, Ive noted that when I do get it started, the DCV light is on indicating that the 12V system was low. Another interesting data point is that once I get the car started and driving, I have no problem with getting the car to start with my key in my pocket the rest of the day. I think the problem is something in the car and not the key.

I think that the keys are constantly sending out signals so the battery dies fairly quickly. The good news is that it takes a standard CR2032 battery that can be purchased anywhere, and that replacing the battery is a pretty simple thing to do.

I just purchased one of these from a rental company and the first thing I had to do was replace the battery.

Why doesn't my 2013 Nissan Sentra recognize the FOB? Says FOB "not detected" when its in my hand. Is this a dead battery in the FOB? how do I get this fixed?

Does the key fob open the and close the door? If it does the battery is fine.

This seems to be a known problem. Move the fob closer to the Start Button.

2008 Nissan Altima not recognizing smart key

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

Ok so I bought a 2002 Nissan altima my husband drove it 15 miles filled up gas and drove approx 5 and it died - bad fuel pump.... We replaced the fuel pump but still having drive for awhile and die issues....

theres nothing wrong with the fuel pump..did you test the mass air floww sensor or have the egr valve will save you trouble from keeping your 2002 nissan altima from dying out.

Just bought a 2005 nissan altima and when start the car it usally does not start on the first turn of the key (its is usually the secons) and it is not every time but almost all the time.Put it this...

If its a crank no start, there issues of crank/cam sensors that go bad (Nissan has new updated ones) also fuel pump might be bad. Rarely a starter issue on the altimas

2004 nissan altima key code

You have to take it to the dealer to get the new key programmed. Try holding the old key near the ignition switch and see if it will start. That way at least you could drive it to the dealer instead of paying for a tow truck.
