Question about 2001 Kia Sportage
Maybe. Generally, there are a couple of things 'on the way'. First, check the battery. Turn on the headlights. Are they bright? Now...add the heater fan. If not, clean the terminals. Still a problem...recharge the battery or get a jump to get you going.
Some starters have an integrated solenoid relay. When you turn the key, is the relay activating...pulling in the gear? If not, check out whether you're getting power there. Could be a bad ignition switch. If the pull-in is happening and the motor not activating...it's the solenoid switch or the starter motor itself. Most chain auto shops will test a starter for you for free. When reinstalling, make sure the bolts are tight and all connections as well.
