Spits out fuel when I try to pump

My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan won't take fuel. It spits it back out or will only take a few cents at a time. It makes a soft hissing sound from the fuel tank. It does a little better if I try to pump fuel when it is cool out.

For some reason, your fuel tank seems to be heating up or there is pressure within the tank. Thats why the fuel spits back..the vapours inside cause the filling mechanism to reject the filling apparatus.

It could also be a block in the fuel lines, or some other reason. Its too hard to say without a manual inspection.

My best advice would be to take it to your mechanic and have him take a look at it to diagnose the exact problem.

Should you find this advice satisfactory, kindly take a moment to "Accept" this solution. Thanks in advance and best of luck!

99 Dodge Grande Caravan the A/C blows hot air and a hissing sound under dash

Well the hissing sound could be a vac leak or the freon flowing thru the system.
Someone needs to check the freon charge in the system with a gauge and the electrical circuit to the compressor clutch.

What's your problem? How do I initiate the self-diagnostic fault code display on a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan?

With a scanner or code reader. Most auto parts stores will scan the computer for free in hopes of selling you some parts.

I have a 2005 dodge grand caravan. It stalls, spits and sputters. Its like it tachs out at 3000rpm. I need to figure out how to check the engine code? It wont start so i can't take it to advanced auto or...

This was possible in the older ones the newer cars are not that way, a scan tool is the only way to get the codes that i know of but anyway this problem you are having sounds like a fuelpump problem, try a quick trick, have someone try to start it while you beat on the bottom of the fuel tank with a rubber hammer, see if it starts, if it does then the pump is bad, sometimes shake it will make contact and get pump going, i thing this is why there was no power and the sputters and spits.

2005 grand caravan fuel problem

Theres a problem in the Fuel pump. Do you have a check engine light with codes?? If not go to any good auto part store & have them scan for codes for FREE. Auto Zone does this & others. This would help on my end. But sounds like the fuel level sending unit which is part of the fuel pump & can be replace sepreat from the intire unit. It's cheaper. You still have to drop the fuel tank to get to it

What tools do i need to replace a fuel pump on a 2005 dodge grand caravan 3.3 engine vin R

Just a few things people who work on cars should have. Jackstands, floor jack.... Before you do this yourself. Go into a auto parts store, AZ has manuals already open to look at, or spend the $20 to buy the book . IT pays for it self in just one job & there pictures of the fuel pump job. Theres a few special things about taking the gas tank out to get to the fuel pump. This is good advice.

Check MAP sensor. If PCM gets wrong data from MAP sensor it should offset ignition timing and/or make fuel mixture too lean or too rich.
