You should be able to use key manually for trunk, at least that is how it works on all the BMW's I have owned, they all have manual key locks in addition to remote.

I have bmw 120d and parked last night this morning the remote control key dead.i tried the manual key alarm went off but put the starter key in and still nothing and cant move gear .everyrthing dead..

Hi Fred
this looks like as you set your alarm ( with key as normal on lock) the immobiliser is in and you will not be able to start your car in the state if you can send me some more information, like year and cubic capacity i will find out if you can reset your key fob yourself or it will need to go to a dealer to be reset.

Cant turn off immobiliser

to turn off the immobiliser is to invite easy theft. Buy another key and have the remote programmed to the immobiliser in the car. Quicker and safer in the long run

2008 bmw 328i car locks are not unlocking either by remote or by manual car unlock button

At first,it seems your remote has lost its code.Try using your other keys.
Do you have all doors+hood properly closed?Does your key actually turn in door lock!

Bmw 523 petrol, immobiliser problem is there a way round this nightmare?,turns over wont start, its an auto cant even push out of the way,

Hi

There is one method you ca try, first ensure the car is unlocked but with the keys out of the car. then disconnect the battery for about 2hrs, overnight if possible. this should reset the car immobiliser and ECU. When putting the battery back on connect the red first then the black i that order.

If no joy get back to me I have a few oher solutions.

Regards and happy new year

I have a 97 528i BMW recently Ive been having problems starting it . When I turn the key it will try to start but wont actually turn over. I have a new battery so Im thinkin its the starter maybe??

It is most likely the immobiliser rather than starter if it does try to start, is it automatic or manual gearbox? If automatic, than try to take the negative cable of the battery and leave for 15-20 minutes without connection, than switch lights on before reconnecting the negative, this resets the computer so it might help. If it is manual, try a push start if the car starts and runs than it is the starter problem, if not than it will be immobiliser problem.

Flat battery caused immobiliser problems

1-insert and remove key from ignition two times

2-close and open driver door two times

3-insert and remove key once from ign.

4-close and open drvr door twice

5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door

6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice this is rewrite mode, have all remotes to reprogram it will clear any lost remotes.

7-remove key from ignition, the door locks should cycle twice.if not start over.it may take a few tries.

8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second

9-release,and press lock on remote, the door locks will cycle confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have, steps 8 and 9.if only one in possession, you are done. To end mode open door or insert key into ignition.

You'll need to follow the steps with no more than a 1-2 second delay between each step.. hope it works

Wont Start

Could be the immobiliser.  Do you have the original keys?  If your key does not have a remote unlock, it's likely to be a "spare" key, which doesn't have an immobiliser chip in it.  If you take your VIN to your dealer, they can get you a new key - at a cost.  I've been quoted over $400 to have a key replaced.
Hope this helps.
