Question about 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

1 Answer

My 6.6 litre duramax loses power and downshifts and will not go over 2000 rpm no matter how much gas i give it. If i turn the truck off for a minute and turn it back on it is good for a couple minutes and does it again. whats wrong with it lol?

thats called the lymp made u should have a code with it. the easierst thing to check and cheapest is to replace the fuel filter. use only the one from gm no aftermarkets its important that it has enough fuel flow capacity

Sounds like it is in limp or creep mode, this is to get you to the dealer to check the problem, could be a number of things. You could also go to autozone for a free service engine soon check.
I assume the service engine soon light is on.

You need a dealer, there is a real problem going on here, way over the head of any home do it yourselfer. The main reason is the special tools required to interface with the control modules that are throwing these codes

Protege automatic transmission wont downshift to pass

Isn't the kickdown vacuum operated on older cars? If so, would poor engine vacuum or leak therein cause the tranny not to downshift?

2000 chevy blazer 4X4. After driving twenty to thirty miles on freeway when I pull off to the off ramp and come to a stop my battery gauge will start to flicker as well as my fuel gauge, will do that...

Are there any codes in the pcm?
There are quite a few things that could cause this;
Make sure the battery cables are tight and clean.
If you have a way to do it, need to find out what the fuel pressure is at when it is acting up.
Dose it miss at all or just loose rpm's and die, no matter what you do? (meaning can you keep it alive by pressing the gas peddle)

To me it sounds like your new fuel pump is loosing pressure while running for a while. But try and get a pressure reading and post back, that will give us something to rule out, or to address.
I think the light flicker you are talking about is just low engine rpm's?

Loses the power and starts stalling

The IAC valve requires resetting .
First locate the IAC valve located on the side of the throttle body and has 4 wires going to it .Procedure is as follows
Ignition key on ,unplug the IAC ,turn key off ,reconnect the IAC .do this 3-4 times .restart the car and hold the rpm at 2000 rpm and slowly lower until it idles by it self .

Losing power when the a/c is running

Hi Deettec

your problem seems very easy :) hope this one work with your envoy. Just buy AC DELCO carburetor tune-up conditioner.

How you use it: engine running , AC off please

1. detached the big black airflow hose which is attached in the mannifold of the engine block.

2. ask your friend to step on the gas pedal and set the rpm steady in 2000 rpm only.

3. then spray vigorously in 8 seconds the inside circle opening of mannifold while your friend steady step on gas pedal with steady 2000 RPM only.

4. after you spray, let your freind continue on gas pedal with 2000 rpm for 15 more seconds.

5. attached back the airflow big black hose to the manifold and you are ready to roll with your AC on.
