Hello, yeap, it can be done but it will cost a lot! besside the gearbox you must install an electronic control unit and the wiring. good luck!

I have a 1996 Land Rover Discovery XS TDI. There is play in the steering which is becoming worse with a clunking sound. I am looking for parts and am not sure which part I need to replace. Any ideas how...

you've got to jack the vehicle up and rock the tire/wheel assembly back and forth from right to left, as if being turned by the steering wheel while you look to see which joints are loose. if there's clunking, it will be very loose and obvious just by looking. sometimes though you've got to put your hand on the joint to feel for play.

I have a 300 tdi discovery 1996 with automatic gearbox. As I drive on the flat the car runs fine. when i try to go up any hill or really put my foot down the engine seems to choke itself up and warning...

check your motor mounts, do this by opening the hood and pushing the car back and letting it rock, if the motor moves more than an inch either way, your motor mounts are bad.
