Question about 1994 Volkswagen Golf

2 Answers

1994 Golf battery lost charge from setting in garage for months. Tried to jump start and the horn started to blow when I placed the jumper cables on the posts. Even if I ignore the horn and turn the key, the engine still will not turn over, How to stop the horn and why won't it start?

Hello, before you will try anything else, you must chek your car electric wires, i'm guessing that you have a serious problem with it, the horn should not start for any reason except for high humidity or a short circuit of the wires; i've had a golf too and a mouse took care of some wires... he has done some "interesting modifications" to mi car wires and the right front door window was openning by self! good luck!

Look in yourowners manual for unlocking security alarm. I believe on these you need to put key into drivers door and turn to the left and hold for a second or 2. Try it. Good Luck, JERROD

2005 dodge neon won't start I've jumped it off with jumper cables and take cables off it and it dies. i got another alternator and tried to jump it and it died when i took jumper cables off still????

I would suggest that you have a load test done on the existing battery as the indications are that it has several dead cells
the vehicle starts of the jumper battery but on removing the leads there is nothing with which to keep the ignition circuit operational
alternators need a current from the battery to start charging as they do not have residual magnetism in the stator so when you take the jumper leads off there is nothing to keep the alternator charging hence no power for the ignition circuit.

First use a battery charger to charge the battery, instead of a jump start. Second, with a complete dead battery you may want to pull the connection for the horn under the hood till the battery is completely charged.

Lexus Battery problem/car wont turn over

Sounds like you need to reset your alarm kill switch, which should be located near the driverside kick panels. GL.

My saturn clicks when i try to start the car. i tried jumper cables and all the lights and orn work fine. what could be the problem?

Lights and horn require way less "juice" than starting the car. Leave the jumpers connected for 5 minutes with the other car idling and try to get the battery charged up a bit. You can take the battery to an auto parts store and have them check it as well, it may simply be too dead to take any more charge.
Assuming that you have plenty of cranking amps, then the next culprit would be the starter itself. It could be stuck or not engaging. You can try to whack it while cranking the car to start (often will release the magnetic pin) but this will only get you to the garage for a replacement.
There may also be a relay in between the battery and the starter that has gone bad. Harder to find now than they were in the 70's, but a garage might be able to tell you.

I have a 99 camry the went dead and i tried to jump it the horn blows good the head lights comes on but when i turn the key it says nothing the dash lights doesnt come on its like its not getting any power

There could be several reasons for your problem:
  1. Check your connections for tightness and corrosion. A corroded battery cable/post will diminish the current going to the dead battery.
  2. Check jumper connections
  3. Dead battery; the worse off the battery is, the more time it will take to charge the battery sufficiently enough to start the car; a completely dead battery with bad cells will never recharge sufficiently enough to hold a charge and start the car on a regular basis
Hope this answers your question. Best of luck.

Help!

key off and out, diconnect negitive side of battrey then postive.clean terimals, charge battrey, connect postive cable (with key off)connect negitive.and start.
your dead battrey is taking up a big load on system,so when you boost it the dead battrey is taking it all the starter is geeting vey little.thats the clicking.
if you dont have a charger dicconect both terminals the same way again, put the jumper cables on the dead battrey.let it charge battrey for 10 15 mins .the longer the better.remover jumpers.
with key off and out conected battrey terminals.connect jumper cables and start.
let me know if it start or not hopefully the key hasnt lost its coding.

2003 VW Golf won't start - battery was charged

You need to charge your battery up more. Either get a battery charger or leave the jumper cables hooked up for a longer period of time.
Your battery was probably completely dead. You might even need a new battery...they really don't like to be completely drained.
