You can get the whole assembly for about 60 bucks online or 700 from the dealership *caugh caugh*. The cable is essentially tied to the guide rack and more difficult to assemble when they are apart. Simplest is to get the whole assembly from ebay or parts.com even remanufacturerd assemblies will be sufficient.
There are only 4 bolts that you need to undo, after you have your door panel off, to take your old one out. No issues with aligning the window as it just rests on the lift and is held in place by a plastic bracket which also aligns it... I went to a junk yard and pulled the whole assembly out of a crashed Intrique in 15 minutes and had it installed in my car within 25 minutes... Just make sure you have a socket wrench kit and you are set...

How can I disassemble the driver's door to repair the power window without breaking it?

You have a major problem. Either the window regulator or the clips that hold the window on broke. My guess is the regulator because of the cable. To disassemble the door look for the screws holding the inner panel on remove them don't forget the one in the door pull and behind door handle. Carefully pry panel off remember there is some clips holding the panel on. Disconnect any wiring connection and carefully lift panel up towards top of door do not force. You will see a cover of some sort remove it. You are in door and should be able to see the problem

Why won't the drivers window go down but the other three windows do

Sounds like your motor is broken. I am assuming you are talking about electric windows. It could be the cables are broke or binding but if the cables were broke then usually the window would fall down to it's resting position.

Drivers electric window suddenly fell down inside of door

thw window either came off the window slider or the slider bracket, this can be determined by removing the door panel. this could also be cable driven and the cable has disconnected or broke, can also be determined by removing door panel.

Electric window cable solution

My drivers side quit working. I took the door/window assembly apart and found that a small plastic clip had worn/broken. I modified it to hold the cable securely. The problem I had was knowing how the cables routed in the door and window assembly to put it back together. I found an online picture of a new one and routed my cables per the photo. It has not given me problems since. Time invested, about 3 hours. Cost was $0. If you buy a new one, cost is about $80 (online) and time would be about 2 hours. If you have the $$, buy a new one.

2003 Jeep Cherokee Door Panel Electrical Issue

hi
i had the same priblem myself, its an easy fix if your any way handy.
the problem is the main power wire to the drivers door is broke or almost broke (due to switches working when door is closed) between the body off the car and the door you will find a rubber boot, slide the boot back from the car body side and you will find that the thick wire is broke due to the door opening and closing all the time. just add a small piece off cable the same gauge about 2inches (to allow movment in rubber boot) and solder both ends to join. that will solve your problem. ive fixed at least 5 off the jeeps with same problem. try it to see.
