Remove the inner door panel, and inspect the mechanism inside the door. Sounds like it rusted shut from age. Spray with a rust removing lubricant and pull on the rods attached to it to work the lube into the mechanism.

would wd-40 be a safe lubricant for a classic car like that? if not what would be a good lubricant to use? and any tricks to taking that door pannel off to where it will sit as flush as it is now?

Try pushing in on the inside door handle while you try opening from the outside with your key. Sounds like you have a lock rod inside the door hanging up the operation you are trying to do or someone tried slim jiming your car

Driver door wont open

You probably either have a piece of linkage that has come loose inside the door or the latch mechanism is stuck halfway between "lock" and "unlock" (fairly common on some vehicles). You will need to remove the driver's seat to make room to work so the driver's door panel can be removed if you cannot open the door from either the inside or the outside.

If you can get the door open, then the door panel should be removed to inspect the linkage and latch mechanism.

1996 Hyundai Sonata Passenger Door Is Stuck

the door mechanisms give trouble
need to eyeball the internals
and inspect the internal works of the door

from drivers side remove the passenger seat
undo the door card as best without ripping it apart
if damage is possible source the same colour door card

Driver door

The rods in the drivers door probably came off.
Somehow you got to take the door panel off from the inside and look.
