Question about Mazda Protege

2 Answers

Something appears to be leaking underneath the left front of my Mazda 2002 Protege. It seems watery, but doesn't have anti-freeze in it. The stain on the asphalt dried once I moved the car, but there is a faint stain where it was. Any ideas?

Sounds like the windshield washer tank has a crack in it. As WWfluid is mostly alcohol it would evaporate quickly after hitting the ground. Check the fluid level. If after topping it off it appears lower a day or so later, there's your leak.

Passenger side? Been running AC? could just be condensate water from the airconditioning.

I checked again just now, it is not watery, its definitely oil and the dipstick measures about 1/2 low. This just started today.

The stain appeared watery this morning. I got home about 25 minutes ago, and just went outside to check. The stain has reappeared, its very small, and it is oily. It is right beside the tire, under the bumper, on the driver's side.

Hi, could be power steering fliud or brake fluid. both are clear liquid. put a piece of white cardboard under the car to get a good look at the fluid. keep a check on the fluid levels for brakes and power steering. you can also take the sample to any mechanic to ID the fluid even someone at a auto parts house should be able to help you

Cannot find place to fill transmission oil

Don't know about your car, but a VW Rabbit I recently purchased has to have transmission fluid checked and filled from underneath the car. Seems to be the way of European transmissions. A pain and expensive. On mine, if you have a leak repaired or fluid added, make sure they change the filter, too.

Anti freeze leak

hi are you overheating and are you having to fill it up because it is leaking or were you just toping up and is it coming out of the overflow on the expansion bottle to find a leak that at first appears not to be leaking the best way to find it is to put a pressure tester on it see if the pressure goes down as it will if there is a leak but then you will see it and don,t take the water cooling systems caps off when hot yates210456
