Troubleshoot a tail light fuse that keeps blowing on 2004 Toyota Highlander

The first thing I would suggest is that you make sure the bulb is installed correctly. With some bulbs, it is possible to install them backward. They won't seat properly, but can get positioned to where they seem to work, but don't make contact where they should.

More modern bulbs use little folded wires to make contact and if those wires get moved, they can possibly short between power and ground. I'd say this is more likely with economy bulbs and aftermarket LED bulbs, but worth checking.

If someone has installed an aftermarket trailer wiring harness, there's a chance that harness is the culprit, or the trailer it is plugged in to.

Having trouble with an aftermarket radio hrness in a 2001 saturn sl it wont turn on what can i do

the only 2 wires you dont want to cross are red and black . once you have red from radio red from harness, black from radio black from harness connected it should light up ..the speaker wires can be "trial and error" . if red and black together dosent light it up check the fuse on the radio and on incoming red wire. try bringing 2 wires straight from the battery with a fuse between the red one to radio,if it dosent light up then with "direct power " then the radio needs to come apart to see ether internal fuse or burnt our circuit. ps: sometimes you only need to connect the red "live" wire and touch the black on the casing of the radio to test for life.

2002 Ford Escape xls electrical issues with no obvious culprit

without a play its difficult to advise ,sorry about my inabillity to answer your question here but i would need my head under the bonnet and my greasy grimed diesel engine engine fingers having a good probe behind the dash ,i suspect a fuse blown in the fuse holder inside the car fuse box but it could also have blown a fuse in the power distribution box under the bonnet as well .The permanant 12v supply will have a different fuse to the 12v ignition switched feed .But i have very limited practical experiance with this american vehicle .

How to change head light lamp on a Saturn S-Series SC2

Hello,
Purchase the replacement light you need from an auto parts store. Give them the year and particular Saturn S Series model number to acquire the right part. Also indicate whether you need the high or low beam light bulb, as some S Series models require separate bulbs.
  • Turn off the engine. Pop the hood and secure it open. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery by grasping the cable and pulling it straight off of the positive and negative battery terminals.

  • Position yourself in front of the headlight you wish to repair. Look behind the headlight assembly to find the wiring harness for the headlight assembly. Lift the locking tab, grab the wiring harness and pull the wiring directly away from the assembly.

  • Grab the old headlight bulb, twist it counterclockwise and pull it out of the headlight assembly. Replace it with a new bulb and secure it by turning it clockwise.

  • Reconnect the wiring harness to the headlight assembly and reconnect the battery cables. Test the lights to see if they work properly.

  • Thanks

Driverside tail light goes out when hit the brakes and turnsignal fuse keeps blowing out everytime i try to use it. so i have no turnsignal or back up lights because the fuse keeps blowing even if i use...

Two more possible places to look:
I have seen similar problem because of dirt and moisture accumulation in the trailer hitch wiring plug, Does your truck have a tailer hitch? I so, inspect under the wiring plug cover and clean with electric contact cleaner. Also, inspect where the plug wiring harness connect to the taillight/stop light harnesses for broken/exposed wiring that may be shorting out the fuse. This problem is usually seen only in after market installed wiring.
The second place that might have a short is in the turn signal switch on the steering column. The steering wheel and upper column would have to be disassembled to make repair. The wiring could be checked from below dash by removing the steering column wiring harness plug and checking qwirs with a ohm meter for closed short. It is a tedious task.

No current to turn signal socket even after replacing flasher and fuse also new bulb and checked bulb socket for continuity. all good .no current on white and green wire coming from fuse box where flasher...

If you have the tow package wiring in the truck, check the wires around or behind the battery. The tow package harness is feed thru here and each wire has a fuable link that can go bad. Check for power on either side of the bulge in thw wire (this is the fuable link). If you find that this is the problem, you can cut out the fusable link and splice in an aftermarket in line fuse holder to maintain protection against shorts.

My low beams keep shutting on and off but high beams are fine

this could be solved by taking the bulb out of its holder and cleaning the contact of the bulb and holder.
turn the ignition on after this with the bulbs in the holder and plugged in but not in the headlight kitself.Turn the lights on and see if the work if still the same try moving the bulb while on in its older and see if its just loose. if so holding it one way it will work. wedge something something to hold it in place or buy a used bulb holder.
Check the fuses at the same time and the wire plug that powers the bulb. check and clean the contacts of these also
Let me know how it goes and ill help again if it persists.

Tail light doesnt come on...already tried replacing bulb and swapped fuses still wont come on...brake light and reverse works

Hello. Check the wire connections going to this tail light and the ground connection where the ground wire is bolted to the frame. A weak ground is the most common reason for your problem. Disconnect the ground wire from the frame so you can sand the frame in that spot down to bare metal then reconnect the ground wire.

Also pick up an aerosol can of contact cleaner at the auto parts store and spray the contacts plus remove the bulb and spray the bulb socket. Regards, Joe

ps - please rate my answer. thank you.

2003 grand am radio light out however radio works fine what is problem

Most likely their is a loose connection in the radio harness. One of the wires in this harness sends power to the back light on the radio. It has become loose or disconnected. Assuming no other lights are out and nobody has been cutting wires to install an aftermarket radio. If other lights are not working then check your fuses.
