Question about 2008 GMC Sierra 1500

1 Answer

The engine hot/ac off light is on - also the relearn tire positions light is on. I just this past thursday had an oil change and they had to replace about 4 or 5 sensors that had shorted out. any ideas of what might cause this? Also, the oil life is dropping like a stone - oil was changed on thursday and now it already says it is down to 96% oil life left and i haven't driven even 200 miles?

Computer will turn off AC if your engine overheats. So find out what's causing the overheating first.

On the 1999 - 2000 5.7 vortec engines the distributor gears wear causing the timing to change 2 or more degrees. The ecm is designed to shut down at 2 or more degreedifference. This is in a GM bulletin that recommends replacement at 160k miles. Mine went out at 150k miles. Very similar driving symtoms until it quit running. Both cam sensor codes were set on mine though, not the crank sensor.

SOURCE: My oil pressure gage just drops to 0!!!

My Envoy does the same thing..Had the sender replaced last winter when it was doing it. Went all summer with perfect pressure and as soon as the outside temp hit <30 degrees the pressure is dropping again..Curious as to why every time the temp gets below 30 I keep having this issue. If I shut the car off and turn it right back on it jumps to normal stays for a while then drops, shut it off and right back on (no wait) goes back to normal...Only when cold outside.... Confused!

HOW TO RESET CHECK/SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS CHEVROLET AVEO5 AFTER SERVICE?

If it's just for the "change oil" light, turn the key to the "on" position, not start and step on the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. If it's the actual "service engine" light, take it to a service center so they can put a scanner on it and find out what's causing the service engine warning.

Relearn tire position

You need a computer mechanic to hook up his computer and test the sensors. You may have a bad sensor in one of your tires

Gear noise left front 2008 prius sound like a tire rubbing against a plastic fender but it is not and the faster you go the louder it gets . Even worse when you steer to the right. And quite to the left.

It's most likely a bad left front wheel bearing or possible tire noise, switch the left front tire with the rear tire and see if the noise changes. If not have the wheel bearing checked, it may need to be replaced.

Check your tire pressure, and adjust as necessary first.

Next, have you changed anything having to do with the rims/tires/valve stems? The valve stems mounted in your factory rims have a tire pressure monitoring sensor/transmitter mounted on the inside. The valve stem itself is the antenna for the transmitter. If you have had the valve stems, valve cores, or even the valve caps replaced, that can cause a fault in the system.

Also if you used a canned flat repair like 'Fix-A-Flat', that could be clogging the sensor. I don't recommend using fix-a-flat on tires with TPMS, but if you're in a jam, sometimes you have to.

If you had the tires changed, the shop has to be careful when mounting and dismounting the tires. The sensors are easy to damage with tire tools.

In order to reset the TPMS, there is a small button either in the glove compartment, or under the steering wheel. Turn the ignition to the 'on' position without starting the engine. Press and hold the button for approximately three seconds. The light will begin flashing. Release the button and wait at least 7 seconds for the system to relearn the sensors. Then turn the key to the 'off' position. Start the engine, and check that the light turns off after about a second.

If the light still stays on, you need to have the TPMS serviced by a qualified mechanic. This should be either a Toyota dealer, or a shop that uses the appropriate TPMS testing equipment.

Good luck, I hope this helped!

How to reset the computer for oil & tire presurre warnings

There are 4 key ignition settings: Off, Acc, On, Start Turn key to the On position, quickly press the gas pedal 3 times, then turn key clockwise to Start position and actually start the car. You'll hear it chime at you and the change oil indicator light will flash and disappear.

The tire light....Have you checked all your tires for prper air pressure? including the spare? If they all have the maunfactures recomended PSI. Remove the negitive post from the battery for 20 min. to rest puter. If that dont work you have a faulty TPMS on a tire need a new one. Hope this helps

Turn the key to the on position(do not start the engine) Pump the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. The change oil light should start flashing. Turn the key to the off position. The next time you start the vehicle, the light should go on briefly then go out.
