The Crank sensor on a Cavalier 05 is located,
Left rear of the engine, the seem side of the oil filter.
Just upper of the starter motor.

That sensor is located on the Passenger side, back area connected to the engine, underneath the intake manifold. You may have to disconnect a few things to get to it

My daughter has a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24. Yesterday, when she was driving it up a hill, the car wouldn't accelerate even when pushing the gas. She stopped and put it in park for a few seconds...

The cavalier 2.4L engine had a problem with the crank sensor intermittently going bad. Sometimes it will run sluggish for a few minutes or even stall but eventually crank back up and run fine. The sensor is about $30 and can be changed in 10mins. It is located directly above the starter.

1992 chevy cavalier, 4 cyl. crank system sensor

The crank sensor is under the oil sending unit on the back of the motor next to the firewall. It is held in the block by an 8mm bolt. It has to be removed from under the car. Get under the car on the RH side and get back far enough that you can see over the transaxle. Good Luck.
