SOURCE: repair manual for a Toyota Prado 2006

Hi:

If you need a good repair manual, with wiring diagrams and troubleshooting help, a good investment is to purchase a subscription to:

www.alldatadiy.com

It is about $27 for full access to your vehicle, and has been a great help for me when I needed a good manual. THeir site has examples you can check out before you buy.

Does my 2001 toyota prado 3ltr v6 have a timing belt or timing chain

I am pretty sure the Land Cruiser Prado 3.4 liter (3378cc) V6 5VZ-FE was a dual overhead cam that was chain driven.
But I have not actually ever seen or worked on one, since it was not common in the US.
In the US I believe it is sold as the Lexus GX, but with the larger V8.

The best way to tell is to simply look.
If it is chain driven, you will see no large cogged or toothed belt behind a shield, that goes all the way to the top of the engine.
If the cams are belt driven, you will.
Cam sprockets tend to be large and near the top of the engine.

Toyota Prado V6 4.0L Petrol 2006 will not start

your starter gets its earth when bolted to engine it sounds like you have a short circuit if its clicking it could be the solenoid or the earth strap touching the positive terminal check this first if it does not work we'll go from there.
