Question about 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

2 Answers

I have a 2006 VW TDI Jetta. The alarm randomly goes off. I took it to the local dealership and the hooked it up and said that the two rear door sensors had gone bad and needed to be replaced. They said that the door latches need to be replaced. They quoted $920.00 for the repair. I paid them $85.00 for there diagnosis and ordered the door latches and replaced them myself. This didn't fix my problem the alarm still goes off. The battery goes dead also because the interior lights will come on when the system senses the doors are open (when they actually are not) Help!

Evidently electrical problems (or sensors) are a problem for VW. The beatle and the jetta I know of.
The dealership finally solved the problem, I was noty going to take no for a answer. There codes were completely wrong!!!!!!! After I had replaced both rear door latches ($300.00) Cost of parts and i put them in based on there diagnosis (paid $95.00 for) They finally isolated the problem to the electric window motor in the drivers door. They charged me $200.00. I like the mileage that the car gets! Depenability is a issue. I would not buy another VW

Did you have an accident with this vehicle shortly before this happened ?
I have had this problem after my car was repaired by a body shop. One door latch was replaced by the VW dealer which solved the alarm problem but the battery still drained. Now they are saying it is the comfort control module.

No the car was not in a accident. It just started doing it. I took it back to the dealership. They hooked it up to whatever machine they do to tell them what the problem is and it said the front drivers side door latch was bad. I had them fix it and thet discounted the repair to 198.00. Thet
night the alarm went off again. I have taken it back and they hooked it up again to there computer
and it didnt even show that the alarm went off. I told them to get the factory involved.
I noe have 500.00 in this repair that is not fixed yet. I am extreamly disapointed in the relieability of
    a VW.

Having the same problem. Car alarm goes off when driver door is locked. Drive down the road with the door ajar alarm and light on. Dealer had it twice; replaced front and rear driver side locks. Still not fixed. We had asked the dealer to check wire harness; no affirmative answer that they had checked the wire harness. Dealer seems to rely on codes rather than truly trouble shooting the problem.

VW Jetta alarm malfunction

Go to your local junk or scrapyard and pull them yourself. The dealer charges an average of 90-100 dollars an hour. So a lot of the money they quoted you for was probably for labor

2003 VW Jetta ''door open'' alarm goes off while driving

The door latch located in the door panel has a micro switch built into it assembly. It is what detects an open door. A new latch is about $150. If you could find a shop to replace it for you. You could also try buying some plastic-safe contact cleaner/lubricant and spraying the latch assembly out and opening/closing the door a few times to work it in.

Horn alarm randomly beeps

Make sure to check all doors, the trunk latch, and the hood to ensure that they are shut. I have looked up your 2006 Chevy Malibu and there has been a lot of people complaining about the alarm system and it going off. There is a TBS (Technical Service Bulletin) out for your car. The TBS says that the Faulty Door Sensor. Take it to your local dealership and tell him what I found for you and they should get you a quote on how much it would cost to repair it.

Thank you for using Fix Ya!

Cost to replace clutch in 2000 VW Jetta

from what is was told locally is that it would be around $800 - $1000 and can take just around a full day to do. it is not a quick job, so labor costs can be high and the price of parts play a big factor in it just because it is a vw.
