Question about 1996 Ford Explorer
Start with the car off and find the heater hoses. have someone turn the car on and feel for a difference in heat coming from either of the hoses. There should be no change in heat in the hoses till about 200 or about to the temperature where your vehicle normally operates. At this temperature the thermostat should just now release the fluid to the hoses and heat them up. If not then you need a new thermostat. If that works correctly wait a minute or two and feel both heater hoses. the lower hose should be slightly colder than the upper hose. but not a large significance. If so then you will need to change your heater block.
