This is a vacuum operated system there is what is called an accuater its a diafram its located under the battery tray There is a cable that runs down to the transaxle in the front end the front axles go into it There is an adjustment for the cable or the passangers side of the transaxle This could be the problem or it could be one othe clips that hold the cable in place there are two of them one is at the accuater under the battery trap and the other is in side the transaxle they pop off sometimes More then likly its the one inside the transaxle but its not that hard to get at you take down front skid plate six bolts then take the five bolts uot of the side of the transaxle don;t worry you won;t lose any oil pullthe houseing out and you;ll be able to see the clip You may have to rebend the clip to make it work better Ihad to do this on mind 3years ago haven;t had a problem sence hope this helps good luck

4 wheel drive on 2001 chev blazer won't kick in..lights flash, hear sound under floor board as if something moved/slid but won't go into 4 wheel

It sounds like the motor for engaging the 4wd isn't completely engaging, you're going to have to crawl under the truck and watch it while someone engages it. I cannot express enough how dangerous this could be to the person who climbs under the vehicle, take every precaution necessary even as far as lifting the truck up on jack stands on all 4 corners with all wheels off the ground.

96 blazer

With the selector in 2WD, attempt to slowly move the car forward (drive)and backward (reverse) in an area of 15 or 20 feet. That should release the 4WD gearing engagement.

Good luck

4 Wheel drive not engaging.

After finding a vacuum line that was off from the auto body shop that never was reconnected , after they removed it when they replaced the left side fender from a crash. Reconnected it and now it works. It was hard to find. Due to it is located below some other componets and wires.
