I think you will find the Airbag is defective. Make sure you disarm this system before you touch anything, it can kill you.

Ford contour alarm sounds and the trunk pops up when I hooked the car. Battery back up and will not start now.

Try using your key in drivers and passengers door to lock and unlock it. That works on some vehicles to reset/disarm, security/anti-theft systems. Otherwise you may have to check owners manual or call Ford dealer service dept for quick instructions.

How would u disarm an airbag in a 1996 ford f150?

to totally disarm the airbag -- you can look and see if there is a fuse in the main fuse box that is for the airbags themselves. if there is no fuse then you will need to do it manually.
remove the negative battery post from the battery,,, wait about 10 minutes. then remove the screws that hold the airbag to the steering wheel. and then disconnect the airbag wire plug,, re-assemble and you are good to go. now for the airbag on the passenger side -- there should be a key switch on the dashboard and you have the option of ON or OFF --- just insert your truck ky into the key hole and turn to OFF.

I have a 1996 dodge avenger ES 2.5 and my horn wont stop honking, i replaced the fuse, the relay and the horn itself..... it still wont quit. Any ideas?

In most cases this problem is caused by the rotating ribbon circuit contact under the steering wheel having a broken filament, the part is known as a clock spring contact, u will need to properly disarm the airbag and remove the steering wheel to access the part. WARNING: Failure to disarm the airbag system can result in an unexpected Airbag deployment and possible serious personnel injury disconnect the battery 30 minutes prior to start of work

Disarm airbag in chevy blazer

You need to disconnect the battery from the vehicle, and wait at least 1 minute to disable the airbag system. Your airbag system is designed to hold energy for 1 minute after a power failure, and will deploy if you do not wait 1 minute.
