SOURCE: p0455 comes back on ,we try to fix it

The EVAP control sytem is checked by the ECM upon the first start of the day when the engine is cool and will trigger the DTC code P0445. If you have a vacuum line leak when it's cold and seals it self when it warms up then the code will stay there. After warming up the car reset the ECM to clear any DTC codes and see if any MILL shows up. IF not then there is a leak only when the system is cold so your going to have to try to do a smoke test when the system is cold.
The other thing is to check all the vacuum lines and fittings around the canister and fuel tank for any lose clamps ECT.
Good luck and keep me posted. Be glad to help you

SOURCE: 2001 buick lesabre gas cap loose warning light

GM vehicles are fmaous for this warning. I had the same problem in my GM vehicle and had to replace the EVAP vent solenoid. Are you getting a DTC yet or just the tighten gas cap message? INspect the fuel cap to make sure it is not damaged and is installed properly. If it's damaged replace it. If all is good on the cap just wait for the DTC to show up but most likely you'll need to replace that solenoid.

Location for 2006 buick rainier EVAP purge solenoid

You should have an EVAP leak test done . It could be a leaking purge valve , you could need a new gas cap as well or it could be the fuel filler neck . or assorted hoses or the fuel tank pressure sensor . If the check engine light is lit there will be a code .
DTC P0442: Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) System Small Leak Detected or
DTC P0455: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Large Leak
DTC P0446: Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Vent System Performance
You have to jack up the vehicle , the purge valve is attached to the engine behind the A/C compressor .

Computer code 455

Possible causes - Missing or loose fuel cap
- Incorrect fuel filler cap used
- Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close
- Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap
- EVAP canister or fuel tank leaks
- EVAP system hose leaking
- Fuel tank leaking The P0455 it's a very common code, because the code is set if the gas cap is loose or missing. Start by tighten the gas cap and clearing the code. In most cases the code can be clear by disconnecting the car battery for about 30 minutes.

When is the code detected? EVAP control system has a very large leak such as fuel filler cap fell off, EVAP control system does not operate properly. Possible symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible a noticeable fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vapors P0455 Buick Description This diagnosis detects leaks in the Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) purge line using engine intake manifold vacuum. If pressure does not increase, the Engine Control Module (ECM) will check for leaks in the line between the fuel tank and EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve under the following vacuum test condition. The vacuum cut valve bypass valve is opened to clear the line between the fuel tank and the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve. The EVAP canister vent control valve will then be closed to shut the EVAP purge line off. The EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve is opened to depressurize the EVAP purge line using intake manifold vacuum. After this depressurization is implemented, the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve will be closed.
if tightening the cap or replacing the cap does not help take your car to a shop to have it diagnosed as it requires special tools/equipment to test this and get an accurate results to find what needs replacing.

Gas cap light evap code

What vehicle is it? (year, make, model, engine?) There are a lot of vacuum lines associated with the evap system on most vehicles. It could be as simple as a vacuum line cracked, broken or disconnected.

what code is it?po440,p0455?If it is one of those codes it means you have a large evap system leak not a vacuum leak by the engine.the evap leak is most likely a inop vent valve or a fuel cap not properly sealing.

This is prob not a gas cap. Its prob a vent control valve\ purge solenoid that has failed. This part is located under the car in rear by gas tank, further diagnosis to be sure though

Check engine light is on, the code is p0455, which is for the emission evaporator, what could the possible problem be?

A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
  • A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
  • A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
  • Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

With a p0455, the most common repair is to:
  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary
