Dodge sprinter It is not the wheel bearings. I only get the shake and noise either while accelerating or decelerating

Hows the wheel alignment also check all of your engine and gearbox mounts id be suprised if it was in the box

When my car lugs down it makes all kinds of shaking and sounds like its falling apart, its an automatic trans. what could be the cause of this?


This can be caused by several different things, such as: A bad axle shaft, the differential or transaxle bearings. The ring and pinion drive, wheel bearings etc. Any one of these will cause shaking and noise on deceleration. Check transaxle fluid level, raise vehicle front end and check for slop in the wheel bearings and check for noise while spinning the tire. The wheel bearings will often make noise when lugging down as you put it due to the weight shift to the front wheels. This also applies to the axle shafts and CV joints and the differential.

I have a 98 Gmc Jimmy and everytime I accelerate it makes this noise around the front passenger side and it sounds like when you would put a card in the spokes of a bicycle...? Any ideas of what this


Sounds like you have a bad wheel bearing. Could also be a CV. Make sure you know what wheel before you replace anything. Jack it up and spin the wheel by hand. If correct wheel you will hear it. Hope this helps

2002 dodge 1500 rear end making whining nosie


This could be one of several problems: If the noise increases with speed, and you are only hearing it from the rear differential and not the transmission, it could be the rear differential carrier bearings, or rear axle bearings going bad. If you are only hearing the noise upon acceleration or deceleration, the rear differential ring and/or pinion gears may be going bad and the rear differential will need an overhaul. You'll have to get the rear wheels off the ground and see if you can pinpoint the location of the noise with something such as a stethoscope. If it's coming from the rear differential, you'll need to pull the bolts and the cover to determine if the gears are still in good shape, or if there is any pitting. Same with the carrier bearings; if you see pitting/ discoloration, they'll need replacement. If the noise is coming from one side towards the end of the axle shaft near the wheel, it's most likely a axle bearing going bad, and you'll need to pull the wheels, remove the diff. cover to release the C clip which holds the rear axle in place at the differential, and pull the axle out. You also need a special tool with a slide hammer to remove the axle bearing and seal.

check to see if the harmonic balancer has slipped if it looks good my next question would be have any of the u-joints been replaced and if they have there may be a balance problem there also greasing u-joints might effect it. Let me know. dc
