You can separate your key from the valet portion and use it to manually open the keylock hidden beneath decorative trim on the door handle (you have to gently pry it off to get to it).
Once inside, if your remote battery is weak, but not completely dead or missing, you can follow a procedure to start the engine involving holding the keyfob close to the ignition start button.
Both techniques are explained clearly and in detail in the owner's manual.
And the remote batteries are easy to replace yourself and the replacement batteries are widely available and very inexpensive. If practical, this solution makes all the other problems disappear.
You must insert a small tool to pry off the right side of the door handle panel. There is a rectangular hole that allows you to do this. It may take a real firm pry off, but that key hole is actually hidden under the door handle portion off to the right. Not the door handle that lifts up, but the fixed piece next to it!!! We called Lexus and those Salesmen down there are about as worthless as dirt! The guy that answered wanted to know who are salesman was...LOL...We bought the car in 2007! Who cares who are salesman is!!!
There are actually 2 holes to make entry on either side ...Passenger of Driver's side door handles....Hence, if you're stuck on the side of the road, Lexus was smart enough to allow you to choose the safest side....Kudos to them!
